yoda Posted September 12, 2011 Posted September 12, 2011 I ask again. What were Sharad Pawar's or Shashank Manohar's credentials? Did we have people getting all wound up when they became Presidents? There is only one reason why there is a major uproar against these two and we all know what that is.
Mariyam Posted September 12, 2011 Posted September 12, 2011 What were Sharad Pawar's or Shashank Manohar's credentials? Thats not an answer. Thats an evasive counter question. If you tried something like this in a court of law, I'd eat you alive :D Unless you are trying to say he's as competent for this job as Sharad Pawar was. Edir: I'm not among those who are 'roaring' :P against Srinivasan or the two you've mentioned. I'm asking you for a rational justification. Why him?
Mariyam Posted September 12, 2011 Posted September 12, 2011 How many people do you ask this question everyday and in exactly the same manner? 16 17 actually. But sometimes I intonate.
Yoda-esque Posted September 12, 2011 Posted September 12, 2011 16 17 actually. But sometimes I intonate. Ah yes..Too much Theater off late I see :winky:
yoda Posted September 12, 2011 Posted September 12, 2011 Thats not an answer. Thats an evasive counter question. If you tried something like this in a court of law, I'd eat you alive :D Well, if I had studied law, my answer would have been different. :winky: Unless you are trying to say he's as competent for this job as Sharad Pawar was. Edir: I'm not among those who are 'roaring' :P against Srinivasan or the two you've mentioned. I'm asking you for a rational justification. Why him? Well he has been the BCCI secretary for a while, so I presume he knows the inner workings of the BCCI as well as anyone else. It is normal for the BCCI to keep these jobs to themselves so that they can continue their merry ways instead of bringing in an outsider.
TheYuvi02 Posted September 12, 2011 Posted September 12, 2011 Yea' date=' some majorly insightful posts in this thread. My bad, how I did I miss these gems? :finger:[/quote'] :finger: to you, srinivasan and all his buddies

Brilliant logic!!! :two_thumbs_up: Dwarkanath Gupta has been the secretary at the PMO* for the last 16 years. I presume he knows the inner workings of the PMO as well as anyone else. Lets make him the PM after Dr.MMS retires. Why bring in an outsider. (*) I made that character up, but you get the point.

Oh please, don't tell me that you can't see the difference between a personal secretary and a body's (general) secretary. MUMBAI: Shashank Manohar and N Srinivasan on Tuesday retained unopposed their posts of Cricket Board president and secretary respectively with the closing of nominations ahead of the 81st AGM. Srinivasan was also the lone nomination received for the president-elect's post to take over the reins of the Board at the 82nd AGM in September next year, according to a media release from the BCCI. Also retaining their posts unopposed as treasurer and joint secretary were M P Pandove and Sanjay Jagdale respectively at the closing of nominations. If someone wanted to stand for the President-elect's post and was not allowed, I am sure our esteemed judicial process would ensure that they had their shot. Don't ya think Madam Lawyer? :winky:
maniac Posted September 12, 2011 Posted September 12, 2011 I am not a big fan of Srinivasan or Srikanth but to be fair to them apart from the English tour they have been succesful with most of the stuff- No1 Ranking in tests,WC and if it counts for you CSK's rise as the best T20 team in the world
bulbul Posted September 13, 2011 Posted September 13, 2011 The IPL ownership rule is a smokescreen. Modi had indirect stake in two IPL teams as well. I would be the first one to call him/Sreekanth out if biased selection takes place for India 11 side - but till now no such thing has happened regardless of the numerous allegations in the thread. The only thing till now was the selection of cheeka Jr in the Emerging players tourney, but after seeing the backlash, I doubt if Sreekanth would ever dare to select his own son in the first choice 11. All other players whose selections were supposedly biased towards CSK have either justified their place by their performance or been dropped after not being able to perform. I am not talking about Indian team selection issue here....Srini also fraud like Lalith modi....they esily changed rules to suit them.. so if they can change rules whenever they wants why should any one trust them...they can do anything..
Mariyam Posted September 15, 2011 Posted September 15, 2011 Oh please' date=' don't tell me that you can't see the difference between a personal secretary and a body's (general) secretary. [/quote'] Duh!!! The PMO is an office/body. I'm talking about a secretary in the PMO, not the PM's PA. Anyways, we are digressing.
ganeshran Posted September 15, 2011 Posted September 15, 2011 Mariyam, Nita Ambani and Srinivasan's case is completely different. Nita's assciation with the BCCI started with the IPL in 2008 and is confined to it. Srinivasan's association is there for the last 10 years through the TNCA and came much before IPL. Of course an ex-cricketer would be the ideal choice, but when has the post of BCCI president gone to an ex-cricketer - I cant remember the last time a high profile cricketer took up the post

You are right. Their cases are different. Still, there is a huge possibility of conflict of interest irrespective of his tenure with the BCCI/TNCA. You have no objections to that? Would you consider it ok if the sole proprietor of Mango Fruity also held the post of MD, India Coca Cola?

Still, there is a huge possibility of conflict of interest irrespective of his tenure with the BCCI/TNCA. You have no objections to that? Would you consider it ok if the sole proprietor of Mango Fruity also held the post of MD, India Coca Cola? I would have objections only if the conflict of interest leads to selection issues with players from the south getting more preference that players in the other areas. If we are not playing our 11 most capable players in the national side, then it would be a serious issue. With respect to CSK, conflict of interest is an valid point here, but it hardly has an impact on Indian cricket played internationally which is the primary form of the game. If Srinivasan introduces a set of rules different for CSK than other franchisees, then it would be unfair but do you really think people like Ambani, motormouth Mallya and SRK would take any injustice sitting down? Srinivisan is a shrewd and cunning fellow and he will make sure BCCI's clout in the cricketing world doesnt go down, As long as he doesnt overtly interfere with cricketing matters like scheduling and selection, his presidency will go well. This is what wiki says Fatehsinghrao Gaikwad 1963-1966 was a FC cricketer. :D You went too far back :D Raj Dungarpur himself was an FC cricketer
yoda Posted September 15, 2011 Posted September 15, 2011 Duh!!! The PMO is an office/body. I'm talking about a secretary in the PMO, not the PM's PA. Anyways, we are digressing. So, the Secretary of PMO is eligible to become President of PMO, if there is such a post. :P Yoda you've disappointed me with the way you've defended Srinivasan. I expected a better (and genuine) reasons from you. I am not defending him. All I knowI am pointing out the stupidity of the posters with meaningless claims. N Srinivasan is as dubious a character as his predecessor. His 'connect' to cricket is just as flimsy. Further more, he is the owner of CSK. That in itself should disqualify him from being the BCCI president. There obviously can be conflict of interest. Do you find this fair? Or ethical? Exactly, they are all dubious. So why so much out cry in this case? The conflict of interest issue has been beaten to death before. The IPL governing council granted an exemption, SC has said it is ok. It is about as legal as it gets when compared to other shady things that happen with the BCCI. Now be completely honest, and tell us; if it were Nita Ambani who became the President of BCCI, would you not levy the same accusations (conflict of interest) against her? Personally, I don't like the conflict of interest, but it is not a big deal. It is approved by the concerned bodies, so it's legal. I'd much rather have an ex-cricketer head the body. Well you need a good administrator who is not corrupt and isn't going to put BCCI money into his own pocket. Ex-cricketer is not a requirement, IMO.
achilles Posted September 15, 2011 Posted September 15, 2011 And then there is talk about Lawhori logic :hysterical: Mera kutta kutta, tera kutta Raja? My dawg flies Private jets, your dawg signs the cheque for him and LIES all over the media saying he has no idea about it. And then, of course, it is okay, because "we know why there is an uproar". You point out the meaninglessness of the posts with more meaningless posts. Wah! What logic, Saaar :cheer: I hate this 2-faced attitude. People must accept that their judgement can be wrong. He LIED, he signed cheques, he was in the loop all the time... yet he LIED. But no one came to take a piss in that thread coz no one really wants to eat the humble pie.
achilles Posted September 15, 2011 Posted September 15, 2011 Some simple questions which I would like Yoda, Ganeshran and whosoever feels we are being unfair to the man, to answer, without answering with counter-questions as has been done before in this thread- 1. What are his credentials? 2. What has he done for Indian cricket? 3. Will he be doing justice to his post, given that he dons the following hats- --MD of India Cements --President of the Tamil Nadu Golf Federation --President of the All India Chess Federation --President of the Tamil Nadu Cricket Association --Owner of CSK 4. What is plethora of knowledge he has gained in the humongous period of 3 years as BCCI Secretary, that has made him a viable candidate to become the President?
ganeshran Posted September 15, 2011 Posted September 15, 2011 What thread are you talking about? :dontknow: Some simple questions which I would like Yoda, Ganeshran and whosoever feels we are being unfair to the man, to answer, without answering with counter-questions as has been done before in this thread- 1. What are his credentials? He has been a cricket administrator for a decade now. 2. What has he done for Indian cricket? He has been involved with the BCCI in various posts for quite a long time and has enough capability to administer the body well. If you are asking for purely sporting point of view, then the administration of a sporting body is very different from personally getting involved with the sport. He should be leaving the sports related decisions to cricketers and selectors and concentrate on only his job - which is administration of the BCCI . Rights, representing BCCI at the ICC, making sure there are funds for development of infrastructure for the game etc. 3. Will he be doing justice to his post, given that he dons the following hats- --MD of India Cements --President of the Tamil Nadu Golf Federation --President of the All India Chess Federation --President of the Tamil Nadu Cricket Association --Owner of CSK Hypothetical question. If he doesnt do justice to his post then it will certainly be a concern but that should be raised retroactively, not now. If a full time union minister can manage BCCI without any concerns of "doing justice to his post", then I am sure Srinivasan would do it as well. 4. What is plethora of knowledge he has gained in the humongous period of 3 years as BCCI Secretary, that has made him a viable candidate to become the President? Rhetorical question. If you want to make specific accusations against Srinivasan, please do so and I will clarify my viewpoint on it without any bias for or against him.
