Many of the squad predictions were made a couple of weeks ago. Anyone provide info regarding: Rohit Dadaji Patel (as I recall he is not playing CL?) Yuvraj Articles above imply it's not really confirmed as regards Sehwag and possibly Rohit. Could we see the return of everyone's favourite buffet bowling breakdancer? Or Aashish Nehra?..
Rohit is injured. Not likely to play. Munna I don't know...... Yuvraj also has an injury, but he got almost 1.5 months of rest so might play Nehra...don't know. He might get a chance.

Sachin, Yuvraj to miss ODI series against England http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/articleshow/10145482.cms

NEW DELHI: India may again find themselves fielding a depleted squad against England, with sources suggesting many key players are either unavailable or doubtful for the five-match one-day series starting from October 14. For starters, Sachin Tendulkar and Yuvraj Singh are certain to miss out. There is also a question mark over Virender Sehwag's availability since he is yet to fully recover from his shoulder injury. Middle-order batsman Rohit Sharma's fitness too is touch-and-go and he may not be available before the 3rd ODI. Tendulkar, who missed the ODI series in England due to a toe injury, has still not recovered while Yuvraj, who fractured his index finger on the tour, also has a ligament tear on his finger which will take some more time to heal. Sehwag has started batting but throwing the ball is still a problem. He is undergoing treatment and making regular trips to the National Cricket Academy (NCA). The team management feels there is no need to rush him "till he is 100% fit". Whether Sehwag will be picked for the England series or make a comeback for the West Indies tour at home has not been decided yet. This means a full-fledged England team will take on an India squad brimming with youngsters. When the selectors meet on September 29, names like Ajinkya Rahane and Manoj Tiwary will come up for discussion. If Sehwag misses out, Parthiv Patel will open the innings with Gautam Gambhir. MS Dhoni, Suresh Raina and Virat Kohli will comprise the middle-order and Ravindra Jadeja may fill in as the all-rounder. On the bowling front, the selectors are likely to go for three spinners and four medium pacers. Jadeja is one of the spinners while off-break bowler R Ashwin is a sure selection. The only bone of contention is the selection of Harbhajan Singh, who has an impeccable record at home and has recovered from a pulled stomach muscle. The team management wants Harbhajan back but whether he will eventually be picked remains to be seen. Bhajji is also facing stiff competition from the likes of Pragyan Ojha. As reported by TOI on Monday, the pace department still remains a worry. As of now, only Praveen Kumar is a certainty while new faces like Varun Aaron and Umesh Yadav may get the nod. The Indian team management may also suggest that Ashish Nehra be picked in the absence of Zaheer Khan and Munaf Patel.

lol Indian team will be CSK 11 ,south india 11 Mukund Murali Badrinath Karthik V kumar Ashwin Sreesanth Anirudh Mithun Dhoni honorary CSK ONE TOKEN SPOT FOR roi Isn't it surprising for the number of chances to some undeserving players from this group. What about players who were more deserving chosen for a token series if they were and not given a chance, Iam not convinced of Bias maybe Srikant only follows SOUTH ZONE PLAYERS OR SOUTH ZONE SELECTOR IS REALLY CONVINCING I DONT SEE ANYTHING SPECIAL WITH V KUMAR BADRINATH WHO IS JUST A DOMESTIC BULLY , MITHUN FAR FROM READY, SREESANTH UNFIT

Sachin and Yuvi most likely out of the ODI series

India will play its first ODI series at home after winning the World Cup in April when it takes on England next month in five ODIs starting in Hyderabad. Yet, rather than the series being a welcome return home for the current world champions, the squad is likely to look very different from the one that won the title as injury problems that stalked the team on its tour of England show no signs of abating. The team will be announced on Thursday but ESPNcricinfo understands that Sachin Tendulkar, Rohit Sharma and Yuvraj Singh are unlikely to be fit in time, while Ishant Sharma and Munaf Patel are also set to miss out. Tendulkar continues to struggle with his toe injury and his absence raises the question of how much more ODI cricket he will play, especially considering that outside of the World Cup, he has played only two ODIs this year. Rohit's broken finger that ruled him out of the Champions League Twenty20 should also keep him out against England, while the ligament damage to Yuvraj's finger is not healing fast enough. Meanwhile Ishant's ankle is still ginger and he's unlikely to be risked for the series. Ishant has said the ankle needs surgery but he is holding off until after the tour of Australia. Keeping him out of the series could be a precautionary measure to have him ready later in the year. Munaf injured his ankle during the ODIs against England and missed the Champions League. On the plus side, Gautam Gambhir has recovered from his concussion and is playing for Kolkata Knight Riders in the Champions League. With so many players out, Ajinkya Rahane, who impressed in England, should keep his place. It could also open the door for Yusuf Pathan to make a return to the side after he was not selected for the tour of England. Given that Zaheer Khan is already missing, the big question is the composition of India's pace attack. Do the selectors fall back on Ashish Nehra, who has declared himself fit (no one from the board has spoken to him though) and has been bowling at full tilt in the nets over the last six weeks? Or do they plump for a completely new line-up fashioned around Praveen Kumar, with the likes of Umesh Yadav, Varun Aaron, Jaydev Unadkat, Abhimanyu Mithun and Vinay Kumar in the reckoning? The choices the selectors make will indicate how they plan to restock India's bowling resources and whether they are thinking about the future. The identity of the spinners is also open to question, though to lesser degree. Harbhajan Singh is fit again and is the conventional, safe choice, but the pair of R Ashwin and Pragyan Ojha could be worth a gamble. Ashwin played in the 0-3 series loss to England and the selectors might want to see how effective he is in helpful conditions. India won the World Cup in April in grand style but have struggled somewhat since. They won the first three ODIs on the West Indies tour but lost the two dead rubbers, before going down 0-3 to England, though they did manage a tie in the fourth game of that series.

With the state of our injury list, I don't see us winning the odi series at the moment unless some newbie steps up big time (mr aaron, rahane, et al.). The WC game against england was an example of how pathetic our bowling line up is against quality batting on indian tracks while defending totals. I'm just waiting for nehra and vinay kumar to form a lethal pace trio being led by PK :giggle: Mybe i can get a look in too lol
