WC2011INDIA
WTF. The pace attack is WEAK. Varun and Umesh are gonna get slaughtered on Indian flat pitches, and the remaining suck. Praveen can't do much without swing conditions. Should have included Pragyan Ojha as the 3rd specialist spinner. Ashwin Rahul Pragyan on turners = game over for england Link to comment

Ashwin Rahul Pragyan on turners = game over for england ON indian tracks , a ranji player can hit james anderson and ZAk also for 16 runs in an over....So its real tuf for these 2 guys to save themselves...they will also be hit..PK bowls only with the new ball..he some times does not complete his quota also of 10 overs as he becomes useless with the old ball probably with 2 ball rule PK will have more to do... dhoni is a clever captain and he can definitely improve Varun and Umesh..had i been dhoni i wud have been delighted as i wud have 2 genuine fast bowlers and it wud be upto me to ask them to bowl at right lengths and line which is not a very tuf task ... if the captain supports fast bowlers can really bowl well...even VK bowled OK when Dhoni advised him and i beleive dhoni can get the best out of Varun and umesh ...i am not sure whether dhoni wants to play them though. i will enjoi seeing the first 2 one days...actually i will watch the entire match to see their bowling Link to comment

Trundler27
Thank goodness darty singh is out..... only 1 good move by the selectors after the rubbish performance. They should make it clear to all slacking seniors that this will happen more often if they slack. However, they balanced out this good move of darty's sacking by picking the newest trundler in our long and never ending supply of madan lal types. I think Mohinder Amarnath see's a bit of his bowling style in that of Aravind, no other reason to pick this useless fella. I saw his bowling in the ongoing CL tourney and the opening batters charged him at will and deposited him to the fence. Let's get used to kieswetter and cook charging mr aravind and pk throughout the series I'm looking forward to seeing rahul sharma (don't think dhoni will play him though) and aaron (should definitely get a couple of games this time). b555
India-England series to be played under new ICC rules Dubai: Two balls, instead of one, will be used in each innings of a match when India will host England in the upcoming One-day series, as the new amendments to playing conditions are all set to be implemented from 1 October. The amendments were approved by the ICC Executive Board following proposals made by the ICC Cricket Committee at its meeting in London in May. The amendments were approved by the ICC Executive Board following proposals made by the ICC Cricket Committee at its meeting in London in May. Reuters The five-match India-England series will start on 14 October in Hyderabad. The rule with regard to two balls per innings is applicable to only ODIs. A new playing condition has been introduced for all three formats with regard to Obstructing the field. As per the law, on appeal from the fielding team, if the umpire feels that a batsman, whilst running between the wickets, has significantly changed his direction without probable cause thereby obstructing a fielderÃÔ attempt to run him out, the batsman should be given out obstructing the field. It shall not be relevant whether a run out would have been affected or not. Ūt is still possible for a batsman to be given out obstructing the field in circumstances where he has not significantly changed his direction of running provided that the umpire feels that by some other actions it is clear that the batsman had intended to obstruct the field, ICC said. In making a decision in this regard, the on-field umpires are entitled to consult the third umpire in deciding whether the obstruction was wilful or not with the final decision being made and conveyed by the relevant on-field umpire. Also coming into effect is the rule with regard to ñowerplays in 50-over format. According to the new rule, the total number of powerplay overs remain at 20 per innings with the first block of 10 mandatory at the commencement of the innings but the second and third powerplay overs may not be taken so as to commence earlier than the 16th over nor be completed later than the 40th over. ŵhis restriction will not apply for reduced innings of scheduled duration of less than 40 overs, ICC said in a release. From now on, Å runner for a batsman shall not be permitted in any of the formats. Unless nine wickets are down, the injured or ill batsman has the option of retiring hurt and returning to bat at a later stage should the need or opportunity arise. Ťalculation of the period for which an injured or ill player who has been absent from the field shall not be permitted to bowl or bat i.e. penalty time (Tests, ODIs and T20Is), the ICC clarified. Previously, the bowler could only run out a non-striker backing up if he did so before he had entered his delivery stride. This meant that as the bowlerÃÔ back foot landed, the non-striker could move down the wicket before the bowler actually delivered the ball, gaining an unfair advantage. A new playing condition has been introduced in this regard as according to ICC, ŵhe bowler is permitted, before releasing the ball and provided he has not completed his usual delivery swing, to attempt to run out the non-striker. Whether the attempt is successful or not, the ball shall not count. If the bowler fails in an attempt to run out the non-striker, the umpire shall call and signal Dead ball as soon as possible. The umpires may now decide to play 15 minutes (a minimum of four overs) extra time at the scheduled lunch or tea interval of any day if requested by either captain if, in the umpires opinion, it would bring about a definite result in that session. If the umpires do not believe a result can be achieved no extra time shall be allowed. In another change in Test cricket, the playing conditions now provide that if nine wickets are down at the time of the scheduled lunch interval, the interval shall be delayed by a maximum of 30 minutes as it is with tea interval. The minimum interval for an uninterrupted ODI match has been increased from 20 minutes to 30 minutes. Link to comment
