Cricket Tragic Posted September 26, 2011 Posted September 26, 2011 This committee picks the team early. That has been the way they have done things.
Sidhoni Posted September 26, 2011 Posted September 26, 2011 England:yoyo: :ohyeah: We are winning this 5-0!!
kabira Posted September 26, 2011 Posted September 26, 2011 why should you wait for irani trophy to get over. they have challenger trophy after that, squad should have picked after that.
kabira Posted September 26, 2011 Posted September 26, 2011 and we are going to play games in india only, so no visa issues...doesn't make sense to select team 2 weeks in advance.
saneindian Posted September 26, 2011 Posted September 26, 2011 Challenger Trophy (Oct 11- 14) is too close to the Eng ODI series which starts Oct 14th. Irani Trophy would have given them a good look at Aaron, Umesh etc.
saneindian Posted September 26, 2011 Posted September 26, 2011 The funny part is England are yet to name their touring squad for this series!
Cricket Tragic Posted September 26, 2011 Posted September 26, 2011 England will name their squad today.
Stuge Posted September 26, 2011 Posted September 26, 2011 England:yoyo: :ohyeah: We are winning this 5-0!! what are you smoking :hysterical::hysterical:
ganeshran Posted September 26, 2011 Posted September 26, 2011 The question mark is on Sehwag and Yuvi's return.
gakgupta Posted September 26, 2011 Posted September 26, 2011 I hope, no new pacer will be given a chance on flat batting tracks of India and ruin his career for ever
The Realist Posted September 26, 2011 Posted September 26, 2011 Pathetic state of affairs. Its like Brazil in football saying we have no strikers
msb1991 Posted September 26, 2011 Posted September 26, 2011 Ideally, you will have a situation like England where you have bowlers of the highest quality who can play in two or all three formats of the game. India do not have such a luxury. Therefore, we must look to each format as to who the correct choices are. Nehra is a correct choice for OD and perhaps T20 cricket until his constant unavailability becomes a serious issue. He has performed well in the formats at international level. Whether you want to dissect these performances or not, he has done well at times whereas the likes of Vinay Kumar has never done well. Looking to potential bowlers, Varun Aaron has done well at domestic OD cricket and so he can be a possible one for that format. Umesh Yadav, on the other hand, has a poor OD record and so any attempt to try him out in ODI cricket will and has been futile.
ganeshran Posted September 26, 2011 Posted September 26, 2011 We need to give new fast bowlers a chance soon - we cannot keep going back to tried and tested failures. Yes new bowlers might not play well - but its a gamble we will have to take.
asterix Posted September 26, 2011 Posted September 26, 2011 Selection in the "playing XI" is important...
Cricket Tragic Posted September 26, 2011 Posted September 26, 2011 If Yuvraj comes back, we can play the extra batsman at 7 and get rid of Jadeja. 3+1 or 2+2?
Sid Posted September 26, 2011 Posted September 26, 2011 Yuvi will be fit for the tour ,I saw his interview last month where he said he will definately play ODI series vs England. There are question marks over Veeru though.
ganeshran Posted September 26, 2011 Posted September 26, 2011 I think its time Yuvi says adios to Test cricket and concentrates on ODIs. Age is not on his side, and he is a way too important part of the ODI side especially with our depleted spin options
BERGKAMP Posted September 26, 2011 Posted September 26, 2011 PLEASE DO NOT PICK DARTBHAJAN, THAT IS ALL, KTHXBAI!
Yoda-esque Posted September 26, 2011 Posted September 26, 2011 We are screwed big time for the next 2-3 years:(( Its obvious that the WC was the cumination of all things good and that things are looking very very bleak now
ganeshran Posted September 26, 2011 Posted September 26, 2011 ^ All things said and done, WC toh 4 saal tak apna hi hai :proud: But ya, the bowling department looks seriously depleted without Zaheer. :((
