That is what Johnson is. Even yesterday' date=' he was had conceded 43 out of first 83 runs England scored. Such bowlers will always come with risk. Nannes is one of the best T20 bowlers and in T20s anyone can go for runs especially on those Chennai pitches.[/quote'] Yea your point makes sense other bowlers were ineffective. Mohit sharma totally outbowled every bowler in every respect despite bowling at the death and inside power play. Bravo was their death bowler. Strategically he got it right. They needed a slogger down the order . So they retained Albie. His figures are not that bad in the end. Morris was also an all rounder.

Mostly strategical reasons i can think of. Bravo' date=' Hussey dead certs. Nannes was leaking runs left and right. That is why he got the axe. Look what Umesh did in ODIs. one of the worst bowler in ODI history in terms of economy.[/quote'] Yes, Umesh has been expensive but he was improving. After his come back from injury, his performance was better than before and even bowlers like Vinay are not doing much better while Umesh is a far better prospect than Vinay. Vinay has no potential or future as a fast bowler while likes of Umesh can always improve. You make bowlers by keeping them in the pool and play and learn and not throwing them out of the team. Look at Vinay conceded 102 in his last ODI and is still back even after being dropped. Why had they dropped him in the first place then if he had to come back?

Malinga & Johnson for M.I,Tait for RR,Lee for KKR,Umesh for DD,Steyn For SRH compare that to Dhoni's choices :giggle:

Let me make one thing clear. .. Johnson despite being erratic can bowl at 90 mph for significantly long periods.. Not even Steyn can lay claim to that. Not a single bowler can maintain extreme pace for long period like Johnson . He is a bit of a freak. Shaun Tait can go for 2 or 3 overs at best. Bret Lee could do somewhat. Before that Akhtar. Everyone else has drop in speeds in a few overs.

18.1 Sharma to Yadav, 1 run, slower ball, on a length, middle and leg, defended 18.2 Sharma to Kaul, no run, short, slower ball, on the stumps, Kaul sways out of its line 18.3 Sharma to Kaul, 1 run, full toss, driven to deep cover for one 18.4 Sharma to Yadav, 1 run, slower ball, Kaul edges it to third man for one Eight balls to go. One wicket to get. Can Yadav and Kaul bat this out? What drama 18.5 Sharma to Kaul, no run, dipping slow full toss. Played out for one to point 18.6 Sharma to Kaul, 2 runs, nearly a yorker, dug out wide of third man, takes a couple, and hands over the strike to Yadav

Lee was made to sit as well after a few games. Even Johnson was made to sit in few games. Tait also didn't play all the games. Only Malinga and Steyn were the regular.
Kolkata pitch does not suit pace bowling at all. Sometimes, they play bowlers according to conditions as they can only play 4 overseas players and then Lee is not the same bowler he used to be. Tait has been injured most of the time and is too wayward.

The point is historically CSK has never groomed a fast bowler be it international or domestic.....Say what you want about IPL but there is always some exciting bowling talent that comes up to the scene...Chennai probably have the blandest attack in the tournament......Same thing with India.....2011 when umesh,Aaron burst onto the scene Everyone was excited but after all these years we are stuck with Unadkat,Vinay Kumar....Bhuvan is good but he is soon becoming useless

Then Hilfenhaus joined. You don't have to develop him. He was already an ace bowler.

He only bowled one odd over here and there and look at here, Indian tailenders are bating, so he bowled. He bowled a few overs in death against good batsmen in CLT20 and was thrashed.

Umesh is a spray gun. He is way behind Johnson or Malinga. Let us not fool ourselves. The way Virat manhandled Umesh was embarrassing. 19.1 Yadav to Kohli, 2 runs, fuller outside the off stump and crashed it away to wide long-off for a couple, Warner runs from long-off but cannot stop the second 19.2 Yadav to Kohli, FOUR, and now he slaps it over mid-wicket for a four, it was on a length and that's easy pickings for a very good batsman who is very well set 19.3 Yadav to Kohli, FOUR, this is T20 cricket but that's a classic cover drive that's beaten the in-fielder and then the out-fielder at extra-cover for a four! 19.4 Yadav to Kohli, SIX, and now he's smashed it over long-on for a six! that's some treatment given to the bowling! it was on length yet again and he was hit over the long-on, the fielder could have got close 19.5 Yadav to Kohli, SIX, and it was very full and smoked over the bowler's head, six more runs! what batting, what superb batting this, from 50 to 44 to 98 off 57! 19.6 Yadav to Kohli, 1 run, OUT, oh no, what's happened here, run-out for 99! it's a sad way to end this, it was fuller on the off stump and he cracks it through to deep point, there's a single to the fielder, he had to come back for the second and the throw's very close to the stumps, easily run-out V Kohli run out 99 (80m 58b 10x4 4x6) SR: 170.68

Johnson is not a great death bowler too. It is not all about death bowling. Otherwise, even Steyn and Malinga has been manhandled as many times by good batsmen. It is all about who has more tools to be effective and improve. Umesh has pace, can swing the ball, good bouncer, and can bowl good yorkers too. He wont learn or improve if he does not play matches or go through these situations. Look at Mohit Sharma thrashed by Cutting in CLT20. 19.1 Sharma to Cutting, SIX, six more, Cutting giving Heat something to defend, and also Ranchi fans more time to savour Chennai's batting, this was pitched up and it is muscled over long-off for six 19.2 Sharma to Cutting, SIX, serves up a length ball and that is powered over deep extra cover for six more, Brisbane Heat have moved along to 128 now 19.3 Sharma to Cutting, 1 run, wants to hammer this shortish one over midwicket, the bottom hand comes off the bat, a top edge sends the ball swirling towards mid-off, lands safe 19.4 Sharma to Hartley, FOUR, full ball outside off, reaches out and gets bat on it, enough bat to send it to the point boundary for four more 19.5 Sharma to Hartley, FOUR, short ball and six more, Mohit taking a beating here, lashes that one towards midwicket, serious power behind that shot, it lands on the boundary cushions, signalled a four by the umpire, "Heat finishing hot," says Shastri

Our fast bowlers are one or two rungs below the likes of Harris' date=' Broad, Steyn, Johnson. Zaheer is the last world class bowler we had. Others are pretenders who would have occasional good and tons of bad days .[/quote'] SO what are you saying? We persist with Unadkat,Mithun,Vinay.....Yeah while at it lets bring back Arvind and RP Singh 2013.
