they will easily reach next round... there are 2 Weak English teams in qualifucations..

He will play, it's a ploy to try and fool the Indian fans to really beleive he was badly injured and low and behold he recovers just in time- wow. Funny how all the Indian players recover just in time for IPL, then go off injured after they have been knocked out or not required to play agian.
you are lucky gambhir is not playing for csk or yoda would have been after you :haha:

How come KKR are in the qualifiers for the CL? Correct me if I am wrong, but the whole point of the eliminators in this year's IPL was so that the top 3 sides go to the CL. Thats makes the extra match played in the eliminators totally redundant now.

Dude, if Dhoni or Raina were injured, I wouldn't want them anywhere near the CSK team. OTH I am of the view that it is the player's individual right to decide which tournaments (pro/national) they want to play in. It is obvious that many of these guys would rather miss National team matches even if slightly injured but would rather play IPL games with the same injury. Sehwag did that the whole of IPL season last, Gambhir partially and now Harbhajan.

Top 3 sides are automatically going to CL. The qualifier I believe was to include more teams and the 4th IPL team is one of them competing for the extra slot(s).

Do you have any idea of how much pressure is on the players to play? On topic: If he is fit, why shouldn't he play?

Pressure is a very subjective thing and we can keep speculating about it with no real evidence to back it up. As I stated, pressure or not, I believe it is the individual player's decision. What I don't approve is them playing partially injured, which is bad for their own IPL team and ofc for the National team. BTW, the bolded part is NOT the topic. We all know he is injured, he had a concussion and has still NOT recovered per the OP. So he is still unfit, hence should not play.

My friend owned a stake in one of these IPL teams. I know what I'm talking about when it comes to this. The OP says that he has won't be fit for the first part of it. If he is fit and can play a few matches later in the tournament, I don't see a problem with it. It will cause a great deal of debate among the members here though.
A Kolkata official told ESPNcricinfo that Gambhir, who is the captain of the side, may still recover in time for the main tournament

Leave him alone, people. Its his choice who he wants to play for. Its not as if he has retired from international cricket. This is off season, so its okay if he wants to play league cricket. You cant put a gun to people's heads and ask them to play only for the country. Funny that a lot of criticism is coming from people who left India to foreign countries for better pay and living conditions but saying cricketers shouldnt prefer IPL over country. Bloody hypocrites.

Makes no difference to the rest of us. It is not public domain info and there is nothing much for us to go by in terms of the so called pressure to play even if injured.

Well if and when he is cleared by the doctors, he should be allowed to play. Looks like Harby now claims he is fit and ready to go, although in his case one makes you wonder if he really was injured in the first place to have recovered so soon from an injury which made him come back from a tour.

You assumed that we were all speculating. Maybe you should speak for yourself next time. You also said that it was obvious that players would miss national games even if "slightly injured". This is also speculation unless you know about the extent of the injuries. So you don't want to speculate about the pressure on players but you're happy to do so when it comes to the injuries sustained?

The frustration of the fans are understandable but when you can earn lot of money by playing 3hrs cricket for 2 months then anybody will take it even with injuries. I would blame everything on ICC, they are the head and they failed to organize breathable FTP. I still couldn't believe they aint doing anything even after watching Gayle, Bravo, Pollard and few more playing IPL while their nation is struggling, they should definitely allow window for IPL and ICL. I dont agree with some people saying T20s kills techniques, if you are not good enough to adjust to every format then you are not good enough for international cricket.

Dude, unless it is in public news, it is deemed irrelevant. Sorry, no offense, but your private conversations which you disclose at your convenience cannot be expected to be part of an open forum discussion.

Obvious because well it is OBVIOUS. Sehwag played through last IPL season injured, same with Gambhir. Regarding national games, Harby seems to have done that, recovering in time for CL. I don't think you can recover from a serious injury in week's time. So they seem to not mind playing through IPL with injuries (Sehwag, Gambhir), but pull out from Nationals even if slightly injured (Harby).

You assumed that everyone was speculating but it wasn't the case. You should speak for yourself the next time. And btw many people have written about it if you've bothered reading about it but I'm sure you will dismiss it as speculation, which is something that you're happy to do when it suits you. How is it obvious that players miss international games even if "slightly injured"? Do you access to their medical reports? If you don't, it is not obvious and you are speculating. These guys play for India with injuries as well. If they miss international games even if "slightly injured" are you telling me that they are 100% fit for every game that they play or have played for India?
