Even you peoples favourite Vinay took some wkts... They are playing in jaipur, the hot conditions take a lot out of u. I am damn sure no bowler in the world would bowl quick in those hot conditions+humidity and get injured when u r selected for indian team. I remember umar gul was bowling 128-135 when he was bowling in abu dhabi against S.A team last year. Its not easy bowling fast in extreme hot conditions like jaipur, abu dhabi etc.

Umesh bowled a 10 over spell yesterday without much change in the pace. I am surprised varun haven't bowled quick. They haven't finished their quota yet. Lets wait.:winky:

There can be an off game for any player bowler or batsman, but until Varun Aaron starts picking up wickets on a regular basis in FC matches, I do not think he can be really considered for test matches for India. He is still very young, needs play full season of ranji trophy this year and pick wickets. Though he picked wickets in EPT, more than Umesh Yadav but here Yadav bowled better than him. Bowling fast or 140+ i snot an ultimate thing, that is just an added advantage. Any bowler who picks up wickets whether he has pace or not is good, but if that bowler has pace then that is the best thing we can hope for.

We do have more than 3 bowlers in India with good FC records. Just curious to know, did you watch them bowl or going only by the scorecard?

Yadav was certainly a little quicker in this much but still not too much difference. 1k of difference in average pace.

Aaron does look short of confidence but did show patches of brilliance. Same with Rahul Sharma, his control is admirable and the bounce he was getting even on this slow track was good to see. Had a catch dropped off his bowlinf and a plmb LBW not given. Also today was perhaps the best day to bat on this track. I won't be surprised if Aaron and Sharma end up with a handful of wickets in the 2nd innings because both of them aim to hit the stump more than the other three in the side. Umesh Yadav definitely looks ready for international cricket. Was pleased to see him move the ball, bowl bouncers, try yorkers. Not too long ago he used to be gun barrel straight. Had a clear caught behind not given and Parthiv dropped one,both early in the morning. Lost his track a bit after those incidents though. Vinay used his experience and showed why those in the range of 123-124 kmph are more succesful in these conditions. Ojha bowled like he has always done. Hitting the same line and length again and again not giving much for the batsmen.

Would like to read.:two_thumbs_up: Firstly, can I make the disclaimer that I do not think he should be near the ODI squad for a little while due to his poor performances in ODI cricket and his List A record. However... I think that the length he bowled was generally too short for what is a very slow track. 140kph will fly through on the right track and sometimes it was barely carrying through to the keeper. He attempted to pitch a few well up to the bat but was often too full when he tried to do that. His natural length, ie. not the balls which he consciously bowled much fuller, was a bit short. This is a problem that Flintoff had which is why Flintoff would bowl some beautiful spells and end with only 2 or 3 wickets, it is also an issue which effected the young Stuart Broad. I would not say that it is a deliberate problem but more of a natural issue with the natural length which will come with experience. For a track like this, bowling short of a length will look good because it will push a batsman back and keep things tight, but it won't actually get the wickets. He probably will do better in Australia or South Africa than in India, but this does not mean that he will be a bowler to rush to a tour of Australia or South Africa, he simply is not ready. Of course, he should be ahead of the likes of Chahar and other rookie medium pacers when looking at promising people for Test cricket. However, do not expect miracles at a pace of around 135-143kph. It is hardly rapid. The point which I want to emphasize is that speed is a massive advantage at Indian domestic level. Therefore, if he has skill, he will consistently get wickets. The pitch is slow, but the pace alone managed to get him 2 wickets even on such a slow wicket because the batsmen simply do not enjoy it nor are used to it. A clear issue is that he does not move the ball that much. Conditions weren't the best, but he is not the type of bowler who can bowl 140kph for a whole day. He has been much slower today, by all reports, and there have been no wickets. Someone like Brett Lee could pretty much bowl 140kph for a whole day. This isn't automatically something which can be solved with fitness training, some people just cannot go full tilt for a day, regardless of fitness. What he can do, is learn to move the ball to a better effect when his pace is down toward 130kph. I do not think that he is ready for international cricket. Or rather, I do not think he is sufficiently proven. Someone at 140kph should clean up the Plate division, even on slow tracks if they are skillful. I think he can do that this year and then deserves the Test call up. Vinay used his experience and showed why those in the range of 123-124 kmph are more succesful in these conditions. If 123kph is the most successful in Indian conditions, then shouldn't he be an option for Tests in India? As for Ojha, he was outstanding for Surrey and should be in the Test team ahead of Mishra.

Kanitkar 36 years old. parida 35 years old. .. can't believe Rajasthan won Ranji trophy Those 3 were the precise reasons why they won :)) IIRC they all scored more than 600+ runs in the ranji matches helping Rajasthan win a number of matches on the 1st innings lead. Besides that, Pankaj Singh and Chahar were in great form picking 40+ wickets each and then they had Menaria who scored a 100 in each of the knock out games in the super league!

The fight that Parida and Bist showed today should tell you the story. They have a more than decent batting line up in Chopra, Saxena, Kanitkar, Bist, Parida and Menaria. The bowling by domestic standards is not bad, Pankaj Singh, Chahar, mathur, the new guy Ankit all decent swing bowlers who will do well on the pitches in North India during the winter. Don't go by what ROI have done to them. Last year ROI vs Mumbai, ROI scored 668, bowled Mmbai out for 250 odd and then piled on 387 in 70 overs on the last day!! Similarly ROI have been bossing over too many Ranji champs off late.
