Karachi, Sep 27 (IANS) Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has received lukewarm response from well-known foreign coaches for the post of national head coach as the deadline to apply for the job expired Monday. No big names, as far as coaching skills is concerned, have applied for the job and it could be due to the current security situation in the country. Dawn reported that PCB now will be reaching out to world's well-known coaches after Waqar Younis stepped down following the recently-concluded tour to Zimbabwe. 'A decision in this regard will be taken in the next meeting of the four-member PCB committee constituted to select the coach. The committee will meet in Karachi on Sept 29 to discuss the qualification of the candidates before taking any further decision in this regard,' the daily said. Some nine foreign coaches applied for the post, sending their CVs to the committee comprising Intikhab Alam (chairman), Zaheer Abbas, Naushad Ali and consultant Ramiz Raja. Some local coaches are also interested to coach Pakistan as some 30 are lined up, most of them without any significant coaching experience. The four-member panel would advise the PCB to start talking directly with world's leading names in coaching, sources further said. Pakistan team could be without a head coach during their coming series against Sri Lanka, starting in the UAE next month. Bowling coach Aaqib Javed or batting coach Ijaz Ahmed may be appointed head coach for a temporary basis. http://cricket.yahoo.com/cricket/news/article?id=item/2.0/-/story/cricket.indiaabroad.com/few-takers-pakistani-cricket-team-coach-20110927/

PCB should look towards local coaches. I doubt if reputed foreign coaches will be ready to take up the assignment.
Even if they want foreign coaches they will have to contact them directly instead of waiting for someone to apply for this position.

Ya, high profile positions are never filled in the way that PCB went about it. Its usually better to shortlist candidates through a committee and approach them privately.

No point of local coaches to be honest. Every local person seems to get involved in team politics etc and comes with loads of drama. That is why a foreign coach would be better choice. 9 of the foreign coaches applied, they can at least pick the best one if none of the high profiled foreign coach is interested (and I don't blame them)

Good to see foreigners taking Dominick Cork's advise seriously.. Cork said ''I won't be coming back here (Pak) while I'm still living, there is no chance and I don't think international cricket should return to this country.''

Cork had actually said Pakistan was safe for cricket and invited teams to play there before the Lahore attack. But the attack made him look like a fool, hence this new advise
