There was only Manpreet Gony who was selected based on IPL performance and then dropped unnecessarily while they could have persisted with him. He did not do any thing badly in 2 matches he played on flattest of wickets where everyone was thrashed. Gony may have been good or bad at international level, but they did not persist with him, did not give him much chances to improve and develop and rather now giving chances to likes of Vinay and Gony certainly has better talent than Aravind and Vinay. Problem is not like giving chances to guys from IPL based on their talent, problem is if they select some one, they need to persist with him. How a Gony could prove himself in 2 ODIs?

Gony showed no reason to be persisted with, though. He couldn't take a wicket in 5 overs against Hong Kong and then got 8-0-65-2 against Bangladesh, by far the most expensive bowler. Gony was selected, as so many others, on promise of pace but he could only manage around 130kph. The judgement that he was not one for the future has been justified as he has shown inconsistent OD performances and has been dropped from whatever IPL team he is now signed for.

But didn't a Ranji plate team won Ranji Trophy last season? and same team had won Ranji ODD 2-3 year ago. And all our players come through this system which is so low that a plate team won Ranji trophy.

Those were flattest of tracks. Had one drop catch as well against BD. Gony only got 2 matches which never enough for any one to be judged. I am not saying Gony would have been successful or not, I am talking about giving enough chances if selectors have picked some one on the basis of talent rather than sheer performance.

Bhai...you cannot judge anyone in 2 matches. Those were were flattest of the tracks. Everyone went for runs. ON this logic, every bowler of that team should be disharded. Steve Waugh had an average of 30 in his first few years of test cricket. Atapattu had multiple consecutive ducks. Jaysuriya was a lower order batsman. I dont think Gony was worse than Vinay Kumnar and if that logic was used on Gony why not on Vinay who is getting free ride in Indian team. I would take Gony any day over Vinay Kumar.

Gony at least gets bounce which can trouble batsman on his day if not the pace.

I see your point rkt about Ltd ovs vs Tests and that Rahuls has done well in ltd ovs, lets hope he can do the same for India
