^^ US n india are different geopolitically and strength-wise. I believe india's foreign policy is better n less alienating than American. Although prashant bushan is one of my idols n I am strongly for free speech, still I do believe it was not such a bad thing to show the sentiment against his statement by only beating him up a little (no serious injurys) pakistani , kashmiri, islamic seperatists would gain more weight by such statements, as it is they aren't leaving any stone unturned thru terrorism, propaganda n in international fora like the UN to snatch kashmir from india.

So basically everytime you heard a view you didnt like, you would beat up on the guy? Are you that weak as a person? Is India that weak as a nations? As I have pointed out earlier, I am completely against even the idea of conceding ground on the Kashmir issues, but neither am I so insecure that I cannot tolerate any view which is contrary. As far as freedom of speech goes, US is much far ahead of us as a democracy. We have of course been hampered by years of differences and hate and it was considered that Indian citizens needed to be gaurded from provocation like a pile of gas cans from a cigerrate lighter. But we have come quiet a long way and our people have matured a lot. Some idiots remain, but I would rather live in a free, fighting society than in a country where any opposing views are squelched under boots. Heck, Goering, Trey and Matt, all would have been killed by people like you if they were Indians
Bro, we can talk about difference in opinion n blah blah until and unless its not affecting us. Bluepanther is a Kashmiri Pundit and he knows alienation and suffering better than any one of us here. So, I can understand his feelings... I am a Keralite sitting thousands of miles away from Kashmir and I can say all the golden 'words of wisdom' about this issue. But had i been a Kashmiri pundit, lost all my ancestral land n may be some relatives, had to live in refugee camps or in other states where I don't belong, I don't think so I will behave the same way I'm doing right now.

Bring back Kashmiri pandits and seek their views: Bhushan Kashmiri Pandits should be brought back and their views taken into consideration said advocate, social activist Prashant Bhushan, who is also a core committee member in Anna Haraze's team on Saturday, at the San Francisco Bay Area. Bhushan made the above statement on being asked who these people he wanted to get a referendum from were, as most of the Kashmir [ Images ]i pandits were no more in Kashmir. "We need to normalise the situation in Kashmir. The current problem is the situation in Kashmir is leading to a greater alienation among the people of Kashmir. If it is not checked it will eventually lead to very serious problems. You cannot control it with the help of the army," Bhushan told rediff.com. Giving an example of the United States, he said that today even US cannot control Afghanistan by armed force. "Therefore we have to normalise the situation for which the Armed Forces (Special Powers) Act (AFSPA) needs to be withdrawn," said Bhushan. "Once the army is withdrawn, we could give autonomy and hope to win over hearts and minds of the people there," added Bhushan. The lawyer reiterated that if the great sense of alienation still persisted then the only pragmatic way in his view… is to allow the referendum. "All people including the Kashmiri pandits, those who are not in Kashmir presently should also be given the voice," said Bhushan. He also stated that he never asked for separating Kashmir from India [ Images ], but added, "You cannot have a forced marriage." Bhushan said that even after the referendum if the sense of alienation persisted, "I said let us allow the divorce, the point is you cannot force people to submit, because that is a counter productive situation." Bhushan said he wasn't able to talk to social activist Anna Hazare after his statement on Kashmir and the statement Anna Hazare made to the media. "I wasn't able to talk him. His views are very different and my views are on the basis of my experience and it is my view." Bhushan said there are there are lot of people in the core group who come from very different experiences and background. Everybody's views in the group cannot be identical. Bhushan, who was in San Francisco Bay Area, attended and received an award by the Indians for Collective Action, a San Francisco based non-profit that invited Anna Hazare's team to the US to attend their 2011 annual banquet that honored Anna Hazare, Prashant Bhushan and Dr Paul Polak for their work in their respected fields.

Can't stand Prashant Bhushan and can't stand these right wing goons .Prashant Bhushan is just another Arundhati who will sell the contry in return for the ""human rights worker" badge.

beetle, it is one thing to diagree with their views which I do too. However threats of physical violence to suppress opinion is just not on.
Exactly...that's why I call them goons. In fact they are cowards who bully people in a mob.Akeke mein kabhi nahi panga lenge... I am shocked that the Thakerays are not in jail for their support to such domestic terrorists.

That was pretty convenient of you to choose Quebec for comparison. I just thought of some questions you might wanna answer in your spare time: 1) Would you suggest a plebiscite for a state like Punjab or a fraction of it in the 80s ? Kashmir valley as such is less than 5% of the population of India and Jammu/Ladakh are not keen on any 'Azadi' dope, so i guess your solution is let any part of India declare independence, however tiny. Is that a fair assessment ? 2) What are your opinions on the American Civil War ? The Confederate States of America should have existed ? 3) Lets assume India did grant Kashmir valley independence. What makes you assured that a) Pakistan does not annex it or use it as a sphere of influence ? If they were ready to fiddle with adventures such as Kargil and support the Khalistan movement, this must surely come as a pat on the back to continue the policy of thousand cuts. b) China does not capture the area ? They already control Aksai Chin & have no qualms crushing all protests in Tibet. Some important questions to ponder about ..
1.) Kashmir is different from 1980s punjab..firstly Kashmir issue is goin on for last 65 years whereas Punjab was a 5 year issue which was result of the whole Bluestar ..fault was on both sides.. and still I can my bet my life that even if election was done if Punjabis want a seperated homeland or stay with India, HUGE majority wud have choosen India even in those times..sorry thats not the case with Kashmiris 2.) American civil rule doesnt apply here..there was no religious goal and unlike Kashmir, all states after joining were all proud to be american... not the same case with Kashmiris 3.) How does that matter to us who occupies Kashmiris... as a matter of fact, let Pakistan take them.. it will be win win for us..We dont have to spend money on military controlling exteremists putting their life on danger, can spend money on infrastructure in different states.. also Pakistani and Kashmiris wud be happy..life wudnt be any better.. P.S. -- Great post by you and nice to see people debating in a civil way
In other words - rahul is supporting to stop use of power' date=' in trying to defend something which was ours - by giving example of how a developed nation would have behaved. Whereas, same developed nations have repeatedly abused power over something which was not even theirs, and moreover 1000s of miles away.[/quote'] how is Kashmir ours... their people dont accept us.. and please, no bollywood... I have meet quite a few Kashmiris here and none of them want to be with India..if they dont want to, why force them dude, India is not strong enuff herself to dandafy others.... think about it, whats the use of appeasing people who dont want to be us.. they are of no use to us and they will always hate us and our next generations... as I said, this means more n more stupid terrorists blasts by Kashmiris in future in the name of jihad firstly my2cents, u r one of my best posters cuz the way u put ur points..and this posts proves that.. coming to ur posts, lets say Kashmir is just a tool of ISI..but the fact is, most Kashmiris hate us... they will never consider themselves Indian... thats not the same case with Punjab, Bihar or any naxal state where even in worse conditions, 95% above people wud vote for India... also, Kashmir, UP, Punjab, Sikkim are already bordering with China and Pakistan..if they want to smuggle terrorists, they wud still do... so how does it matter if Kashmir is a seperate country... think about it, wars with Pakistan has always been about Kashmir.. that will be a great positive step towards peace...also Kashmiris won't come into India and blow themselves up as we gave them what they wanted.. you have a point but bro, from what it seems like Kashmir is not a part of India..they are the native people there and if they dont consider themselves Indians so it seems like we come across barbarians..whats the use of a land if people of that land hate u
