But that was just one match for Tiwary when the whole team failed as well . He did score a 48 in the only match he played in the Vijay Hazare Trophy which was held between the CB series and the Asia Cup. But for Rahane this is a never ending story :wall: Most of the blame should be taken by people who're trying to force-fit 'a seriously good 5-day player' in a format/formats in which he's never been good.
In VZ and Deodhary Tropy, Rahane did score 350+ runs in 8 matches@an avg of around 45, not bad numbers. On him being a 5 day specialist, don't quite agree there, if someone is good enough to play longer format, he should have no issues in adapting to 50-over format. And the little we saw of Rahane in Eng tells me he's good enougj ODI player, just neds a longer run as an opener.T20s are a different beast, but even there Rahane may end up surprising a lot of us in the upcoming IPL.

Rahane's scores in the Vijay Hazare Trophy were 4, 8, 13, 13, 71*, 42, 24 Average - 29.16 Rahane's scores in Deodhar were 36 and 118. So basically 2 and half good knocks in 9 opportunities. Total score was 329 :hitler: and not 350+ That too against ordinary bowlers and flat tracks where Saha averaged more than 100 (in VH).

Saha and Rahane are not competing for the same spot. How did the other openers' date=' with whom Rahane is competing for a spot, perform in VH and DH?[/quote'] Saha was just an example. Let's look at the averages and runs of the other openers: Jaffer - 326 @ 54.33 Uthappa - 322 @ 53.66 Dheeraj Jadhav - 298 @ 74.50 Shikhar Dhawan - 291 @ 48.50 Swapnil Asnodkar - 268 @ 67.00 Srikant Anirudha - 253 @ 50.60 These are some of the names. More than 40 batsmen have scored more than him in the tournament. Deodhar Trophy was a 2-game tournament and that century has taken Rahane to the 2nd position in the batting charts.

Wonder why do you want to ignore the performance in Deodhar trophy where the competition is of much higher standard. You surely have something against Rahane, wonder why. As for the names you have mentioned, Jaffer and Jadhav are over the hill, Asnodkar and Cheeka jr are hacks. Two guys who can compete for the opener's slot are Uthappa and Dhawan., Dhawan was technically found out in WI and needs some work before coming back. Uthappa, based on those ODD performances, found a spot in the t20 side for one off game vs SA.

We'll have Kohli , Yuvi , Raina , Dhoni and even Rohit to take advantage of flat tracks and score quickly. One opener with good technique would be good rather than a line up of full hacks.

interesting final going on - 28 of 3 overs required. Bhajji has chance to win it for Punjab, Munnabhai has been good with ball this season and should be back in the One Day squad

Rahul Sharma bowled 4 overs with stats of 15/2 :aha: He's in good form. Should I mention Rahane's scores in the last two matches? :(( Nope, no point :headshake:
He is consistently outbowling Bhajji. Yet we want bhajji back ahead of Rahul sharma

Good to see Irfan continuing his form,And domestic cricket experts can you tell us about this Pinal Shah, scores well in Domestic lmited overs tournaments regularly but whenever I have seen him play in IPL,he looked a **** player.

Isn't very agile and looks to be a very limited batsman who can bash weaker attacks. Plus he has failed to step up to the next level from his Ranji performances, hasn't exactly done very well playing for West Zone. But he is rated very highly for his leadership and despite being younger (only 24), has been leading Baroda for a couple of years now.
