DomainK Posted November 1, 2011 Posted November 1, 2011 Too many meetings in that part of Mumbai these days and invariably I walk out of meetings hungry at around lunchtime. So those who are better acquainted with the area, tell me what all different kinds of nice restaurants I can try.
Mariyam Posted November 1, 2011 Posted November 1, 2011 New Yorkers - Veg only. Mexican and Italian food Cafe Ideal - Everything from beer to tanddori chicken and keema pav Sukh Sagar: veg fast food. Koh : In Intercontinental : Thai and Chinese ( i like this place) Dome: In Intercontinental Little Italy is just off Marine Drive Not just Jazz by the bay + Pizzeria ( or whatever the new name is) BayView at Marine Plaza ( intercontinental mainly) In addition to these, the restaurants in the Oberoi.
DomainK Posted November 1, 2011 Author Posted November 1, 2011 Thanks Yam, any Iranian or Marathi ones? I have heard there are some good one in that area?
Mariyam Posted November 1, 2011 Posted November 1, 2011 ^^^^ Sassanian (for Irani food). Its at Dhobi Talao. A little inside. Not exactly on Marine Lines. Its not a very 'classy' place so to speak. But the food there is top notch. You can always parcel and eat it elsewhere. For Marathi food, I don't know any restaurant on or around Marine drive. However, near Hinduja hospital, there is a restuarant called Maharashtra cha Diva. ( ownder by the same Wadkar chap who owns Goa Portuguesa) . Its the best Marathi food restaurant ever. Zanzanit mutton soup. :yay:
Holysmoke Posted November 1, 2011 Posted November 1, 2011 Small budget. Badshah cold drinks near crawford market. Kamats Sukh sagar cecil (behind metro.. small hole in the wall irani.. but i love their keema pav and bhurji) Shiv sagar (churchgate) Medium budget New yorkers kobe sizzlers zaffran (friggin amazing) little italy gaylords Bachelors (expensive street food/car food) Thackers thali near chowpatty.. the best gujju thali in town according to all the gujjus i know. There is a delhi darbar also somewhere near metro. Big budget Intercon, all the restaurants Society at ambassador has some fantastic food (very underrated imho) Marine plaza Oberoi is not too far.

(the place where "mela" was) that has really amazing food. They had a Maharashtrian food festival recently.. it was mind blowing. They have a burnt garlic and curd chutney that I absolutely ADORE. Most of the times I go there I end up having around 3-4 bowls of that chutney. :((
Mariyam Posted November 1, 2011 Posted November 1, 2011 ^^^ I absolutely Gazalee. But that's a sea food restaurant and not specifically a Marathi restaurant. Maybe Mahesh Lunch Home is a hybrid between sea food and Marathi food. They're also quite good. Hmm. I'll check out " India and Beyond" now that you speak so highly of it. I know where Mela was. I've had a bad experience there. There was this once when I was shopping at Atria Mall, with a few freinds. Met my uncle and aunt there and they insisted that I have dinner with them. We went to Mela. I fell very sick after that dinner. Don't know if it was due to the company and the boring conversation that ensued or the chicken biriyani in shining bronze handi that did the trick. :(( At Diva Maharashtracha: Try the Kohlapuri mutton curry with bread crumbs.
Holysmoke Posted November 1, 2011 Posted November 1, 2011 Thanks Yam' date=' any Iranian or Marathi ones? I have heard there are some good one in that area?[/quote'] A little far, but well worth the trip. http://mumbai.burrp.com/listing/britannia-and-company-restaurant_colaba_mumbai_restaurants/14812861__UR__reviews
Sachinism Posted November 1, 2011 Posted November 1, 2011 There's a pizza place which is on some corner, not too far from Natural's Ice Cream Place was ram-packed after the final, couldn't get no food :(( Had to go back to Mocha, who took forever :hitler:

Holysmoke Posted November 1, 2011 Posted November 1, 2011 ^^^^ Pizzeria/ Not just Jazz by the Bay. I don't know how Holy missed out on that. Because I find their pizzas far too oily. Pizzas should not be oily.
EnterTheVoid Posted November 1, 2011 Posted November 1, 2011 Holy/Ravi, the joint we went to was not in Marine Lines was it? We met somewhere along Marine Drive and went to another restaurant in Colaba somewhere.
