Some decent bounce at the start of the game to start with.One can undersatand the variable bounce on 3rd or 4th day onwards but ball bouncing 2 times before going to the wicket keeper in the very 1st over of the test match is disgraceful. Example the pitch at Galle earlier this year(AUS vs SL),yes it was also assisting the spinners from day one but it wasnt disgraceful because it had some bounce.

For me, if a test match finishes in less than 2.5 days or not even 3 innings finish inside 5 full days, it is a bad pitch otherwise good. Low bounce, invariable bounce, high bounce-all surfaces requires different expertise which is expected of a batter.

If that happens, according to my knowledge of cricket laws ball is declared as a wide.And the arguement here is that track or pitch can become or start getting low as the game progresses i.e on the 3rd or 4th day but in the 1st session of day one is just not acceptable.

God knows whether ball will rise above toes or not on last day. At least you can play for all 5 days on a bouncy track.

Low-bounce doesn't mean pitch is bad, its the nature of SC pitches. You don't really get good bounce in SC. It doesn't mean its bad, yeah it helps make batting easier against pace, but it also helps spinner.

saneindian Posted November 7, 2011 Posted November 7, 2011 Awful pitch? I got my money worth watching it from the stands at Kotla. 280+ runs, 17 wickets what more can I ask for? Pity India lost all 10 wickets, but to watch WI bowl and field with so much enthusiasm was great to watch. Dravid was comfortably driving the ball through covers, even Ishant looked comfortable till he received a rough decision. We needed to keep the good balls out which we couldn't. Dravid's reaction as wickets fell at the other end said it all, not the most difficult wicket we have played on.

Manny_Pacquiao Posted November 8, 2011 Posted November 8, 2011 tendulkar and laxman were just putting away the bad balls. they were also playing very late and couldnt quite read the bounce. lots of dot balls played out, very little strike rotation. india won because west indies are shyte
