phillander's ODI average is horrible. mention him again when he takes 100 plus wickets in any format or atlest played matches numbering in double figure, till then keep shushhh. i forgot to quote panther on the asif remark.
Better to clear out what we are discussing. ODI trundlers or test trundlers? IF ODI trundlers was the subject, then Vaas, Larsen, Craig Mathews, Adam Dale, Nuwan Zoysa would show that if you are accurate enough, you can do wonders in ODI as a trundler. If we are discussing tests, then Philander, Fraser, Cork, Fazal Mahamood are good examples for great to good trundlers. The problem arises when trundlers spray it around like Peter North in a moneyshot. If they are tight enough, wickets will come.

Lols at people laughing at Pakistan's pace bowlers. There are ups and downs for every country but it's only a matter of time before you see a couple of very good fast bowlers from Pakistan, especially now when PCB are actively searching for them and not only throwing in sifarshi players. Zia Ul Haq, 17, is already bowling 143+ kph and he will get quicker. Looking forward to watch him in U19 WC later this year.

Quite often the ones who are not playing on the ground are usually regarded the best / even greatest by all and sundry.
thats their readymade reason for failures

you guys even hyped junaid khan, rahat ali and wahab as 150 bowlers but they actually are 130's bowlers as fast as vinay kumar definitely not quicker than him

Of course he didn't do wonders. But with his pace, achieving the stats of 108 wickets @ 29.75 at 4.52 is a wonder. This is what Indian pacemen did since his debut. Cut off is 25 wickets. Would have made to Indian ODI side during his playing days.
and here is indian pacer and srilankan pacers performance in srilanka. http://stats.espncricinfo.com/ci/engine/stats/index.html?bowling_pacespin=1;class=2;filter=advanced;host=8;orderby=bowling_average;qualmin1=25;qualval1=wickets;spanmin1=01+Jan+1997;spanval1=span;team=6;team=8;template=results;type=bowling see how praveen and pathan are averaging below 25 in srilanka?? if they had to play all their home games on sri lankan pitches they would have averaged somewhere near macgrath. zoysa is nothing special nor any srilankan fast bowlers was.

yeah looks like i underestimated zoysa. I ran in a few more tweaks, he has been pretty effective for a rank trundler. he is behind the better bowlers but on top of the current crop. Away and neutral series performance by indian/sl pace bowlers since zoysa.

it took asif about 5-6 test matches to develop whilst it took anderson 40 or more and he is still developing as a bowler especially on seam bowling.
Correction, it took doper asif a few test matches to develop. Anyone who's ever bowled sustained spells will know how difficult and physically draining it is. That is unless you're doping on the side which greatly increases your body's ability to regenerate/heal in a shorter time frame.

Yes it did. Why do you think bowlers struggle when tired for pace/control? How often do bowlers come back match fit after injury layoffs? FACT: Asif had chronic elbow problems early in this career that affected his bowling, pace, amount of spells/overs etc and at one time threatened his career. FACT: The type of doping Asif was guilty of (more than once) specifically allows the body to heal/recover faster and more effectively making his chronic elbow problem far less severe. Effectively this doper for years could bowl long spells, and get far less tired and continue to bowl effectively later in the day, the next day and so on. Another side affect of Nandro is increase muscle strength, like around joints to stabilize issues with his chronic elbow. Why do you think they call it cheating numbnuts?

asif was not known for his pace , he was a line/length bowler who would concentrate on hitting the seam.

The fact that Asif tested positive for Nandro during the IPL even when he just had to bowl 4 overs a match shows just how dependant he was on performance enhancing drugs to even bowl a few overs or "make the ball talk."

If this is was awar of tweaks, i'll show that Zoysa was just on the top of the tree when it comes to playing on harder wickets of SAF, AUS, ENG and NZ. But the idea of quoting him was different. He was a trundler, but had a decent career. This "anti-trundler" mentality sucks.

This is a temp blip Pakistan bowlers will always bowl faster than Indian magoo trundlers, the way our trundlers bowlers are brought thru the system on dead ranji pitches and poor coaching. Umar Gul bowled plenty of 150km/hr plus deliveries during the ODIs. India is the only country not to have a sub-25 bowler, a cause for national shame.
