vamos_rafa Posted November 5, 2011 Posted November 5, 2011 Guys, how would you rate Ashwin's performance in his first spell in test cricket? Personally, I have been a bit impressed by him bowling. Has been flighting the ball consistently, no darts. Even the carrom ball or the pushing of deliveries has been kept as a secret weapon.
BeautifulGame Posted November 5, 2011 Posted November 5, 2011 Impressed with his control. I can only think of 2 or 3 bad "hit me for four " deliveries in his whole spell which Bhajji (nowadays) and Mishra bowl every over. The pressure he created helped Ohja in getting Edwards too. And the bounce he gets in this dead FSK pitch good too.Just needs to maintain this same patience and dont try too many things.
vamos_rafa Posted November 5, 2011 Author Posted November 5, 2011 ^ Yes he has a good control and a he's a thinking bowler as well.
yadhav500 Posted November 6, 2011 Posted November 6, 2011 Now Ashwin should carry on and help Ojha to wrap up this WI innings quickly.
mani0993 Posted November 6, 2011 Posted November 6, 2011 The good thing about Ashwin is his temperament and his big heart. That was evident when he was hit for a six and the very next ball beat the bat of Chanderpaul. Impressed with the way he bowled on a whole. Probably could bowl a little more slower and flight the ball more that this (not always, but some times).
saneindian Posted November 6, 2011 Posted November 6, 2011 Give him a turning track nad he would be lethal with his turn and bounce. Even on this wicket he would be handful on day 4 and 5. Very impressive debut.

H'es very tall, so he can't flight the ball that much. I remember even Arun Lal mentioning this.
King Tendulkar Posted November 6, 2011 Posted November 6, 2011 Bowled carroms instead of darts. Oijha at least tried playing cricket and bowled spin
Sid Posted November 6, 2011 Posted November 6, 2011 Bowled carroms instead of darts. Oijha at least tried playing cricket and bowled spin Dartbhajan in a domestic match = 0 wickets Carrom player in an intl match (so far) = 2 wickets :phehehe:
fineleg Posted November 6, 2011 Posted November 6, 2011 Bowled carroms instead of darts. Oijha at least tried playing cricket and bowled spin poor dsr, he can now only watch re-runs of Darty from 2001 on DVD
Malcolm Merlyn Posted November 6, 2011 Posted November 6, 2011 Better than dartbhajan...................i hope he keeps Harbhajan out permanently.
Karan114 Posted November 6, 2011 Posted November 6, 2011 Good stuff, two wickets on his first day of Test cricket, hopefully adds a few more tomorrow :two_thumbs_up:
vamos_rafa Posted November 6, 2011 Author Posted November 6, 2011 Bowled carroms instead of darts. Oijha at least tried playing cricket and bowled spin He bowled proper off-spinning flighted deliveries. Carrom ball was used as a surprise weapon by him.
