Malcolm Merlyn Posted November 17, 2011 Posted November 17, 2011 If Holding was overrated then every fast bowler is overrated. Holding is probably underrated because he did not play enough. He chickened out from playing in the SC........didnt play a test vs Pakistan.

Hadlee never gets his due...........he was baap of all WI bowlers bar Marshal(they were more or less equal).Its the likes of Holding and sometimes Roberts and Garner who hog the limelight.
putrevus Posted November 18, 2011 Posted November 18, 2011 Marshall I reckon is best pace bowler ever there was nothing he could not do he could bowl as fast as anybody and was so accurate. He had vicious bouncer with his fast arm action, he could swing in England, seam and bounce in Australia, bowl cutters with great pace on dead sub-continent pitches.He succeeded in subcontinent pitches without reverse swing. He had such an intimidation factor because he had so many weapons.Other great bowlers like Mcgrath/Hadlee were ruthlessly efficient but they never had fear factor which Marshall possessed. He would have much more wickets if he was playing for any other team.In those great West Indies teams those guys never had a chance third or fourth spells many times. Hadlee never had a competition for wickets, Mcgrath had only Warne as a major threat.

Hadlee was as much a virtuoso as Marshall and Akram were

McGrath did in the era of high batting averages and in the era of flat tracks, in the era of high scoring rates and economy rates. Did Lillie ever play in India? He even denied to tour India.
