However I wondered, from those that have seen a lot of it if there is scope for comparison between Steyn (undoubted great fast bowler of these times) and some of these guys. He has by far and away the best avg. of those still playing, and the gap is even wider if we take out the ones who have played far less. S/R at 39.6 is amazing. :hmmm:

Pagalpanti Posted November 12, 2011 Posted November 12, 2011 Steyn is class-act. Surely a cut above the rest in tests. Don't think anyone can catch up with him. Will surely end up as an ATG when he quits. Can't say the same for him in ODI's though.

rkt.india Posted November 12, 2011 Posted November 12, 2011 good comparison steyn vs anderson . tbh i cant at the moment pinpoint any technical difference between the two maybe steyns length is better & also has a bigger heart. but its obvious that steyn is much better in subcontinent , will check the stats in cricinfo , Pace is the difference. Steyn can pick up pace at any time to make something happening while Anderson lacks that extra yard of pace.

He is not that quick that people think. WE saw in 4 tests he was between this range. While Styen stays 130-140 range mostly when there is help but he can quickly increase it and surprise the batsman with 150K bouncer. Other than that he he is more accurate and can reverse the ball as well. Steyn has that x-factor as he can swing the new ball in most conditions while this is not the case with Anderson. Though Anderson is getting better off late with his consistency.
