SA not able to win a series at home yet again

SA haven't been able to win at home against decent opponents for quite a while now. Against Aus and Ind they took the lead but were not able to finish things off. Do you reckon SA deserves to be the top team in test cricket when they can't even win at home? Surely winning at home should be a walk in the park based on the amount of flak India gets for winning at home.

The thread is more to highlight the fact that winning at home takes lot of effort as well and is not a "gimme". India's superb record at home deserves more respect seeing SA's struggles at home where they haven't managed to win against a decent opposition in quite a while. And SA suck as well - they can't finish off things after taking the lead and when the opposition is dow for the count.

Dont worry series win coming up' date='Lankans are arriving soon :phehehe:[/quote'] they will smash sri lanka 3-0, but that wont prove their credentials as a top side. england are the only side that can claim to be number 1 right now, they beat both india and australia convincingly. india could keep their challenge on track with a series win in australia.

^ One could argue that the tracks are moar "sporting" in SA hence gives "equal opportunities" to visiting teams too..
what does it mean? (in context of cricket)

Yes, this is a lasting problem for their results. Weren't they down to bowling at Graham Onions twice in drawn Tests vs. England? After they could not hold out for the draw in India. That would have been potential wins against two top rivals which would've put them far and away on top.

"Sporting" is just another excuse to hide their incompetence, just like Indian wkts are branded "non-sporting" by visitors to India after getting their *****es handed out to them. I bet all this talk of "non-sporting" Indian wkts will disappear if they do manage to win in India.

Disappointed that Aus won. Was rooting for SA (even though it meant India wouldn't be No. 2). I tend to support Aus, only if they play against Pak/SL.
It's good Aus drew the series. Now if India manages to beat Aus in Aus we wouldn't have to listen to what a "weak" Aus team we beat.
