Sherry Rehman is in because Husain Haqqani, the erstwhile Ambassdor, reached out to US suggesting Armed Forces are planning a coup against Zardari. And was stupid, or courageous depends on how you look at it, enough to put this in writing. Should be interesting to see if a coup is around the corner.

I always considered her a courageous politician, who inspite of the numerous murmurs about her lifestyle from the conservative section of Pakistani society, still took a stand on what she considered right. When she was I&B minister, she got into a tiff with Zardari over the restrictions imposed on reporting of Geo and resigned. She also openly supported Salman Taseer on his stand against the blasphemy law. When all other politicians were making non committal statements about the issue, she went ahead and submitted a private amendment bill in the parliament ignoring the discontent and lack of support from her own party. The ambassador to the United states is one of the most trickiest jobs in Pakistan given the stronghold the army has on foreign policy. It would be interesting to see how she goes about performing the role
