Though with the benefit of handsight and how things played out in the end that may not be the case but at 17 for 5 with top 5 batters gone and in deep trouble a loss there would have been devastating and who knows how that would have played on the team psyche an intangible that is not possible to measure through numbers or stats. Team rallied around after that herculian effort in my opinion and history was made. Single most important One Day knock in the annals of Indian cricket since we won the cup then and look how long it took us to win another WC.

1) Gods 200* against a reputed team & great fielding unit . 2) Anwar's 194 - Scored with a runner but considering that it was during the time when even 300+ scores were rare . 3) Coventary 194 - Did it against an evenly balanced side because it was a Match up between Minnows v/s Minnows . 4) Sehwag 219 - Scored against the Windies bowling attack , Worst team of the current era that was bowled out for 61 against Bangladesh a month and half ago . Respect to Sehwag's mighty effort though . last knock is the only instance of a Strong Batsman bashing the Minnows , other knocks have been against more balanced sides .

I voted for SRT for the following reasons... 1. SRT's knock came against SA which is a far stronger team than WI 2. SA had the likes of Steyn, Morkel, Kallis, Parnell who are better than Roach and Rampaul (at least Steyn and Morkel are) 3. SRT's innings was chanceless whereas Sehwag had a sitter dropped. 4. SRT had to score against SA fielding which is best in the world whereas WI in the field today was almost "comedy of errors" with catches and runout chances missed and misfields galore.

Morkel didnt play and all the other other SA bowlers apart from Steyn played in that match were soon dropped from the SA team.Just shows the quality so called great SA attack. Rampaul is as good if not better bowler than Steyn in ODIs in subcontinent.Roach is much better than the likes of Langeveldt and Parnell.SA had Van dermerve as spinner worse than even Samuels let alone a genuine spinner like Naraine.

People are claiming ,Bowling strength based on the Test performances.. But in reality SA ODI bowling is too much below their Test match level..while WI bowling far better than thier Test bowling.. Major difference is fielding except that i dont see any difference.. And as always 219 greater than 200 :winky:

I don't know if anyone saw the match but Sammy dropped probably the easiest catches of all time of Sehwag today. It was mostly luck by chance, there was barely any class in the knock, it was all whipping the poor WI bowlers on a highway without any fielders in the ground. SRT's knock was all elegance, class, timing and technique against some of the world's best bowlers and fielders.

Which one is the best? sehwag's 219 or sachin's 200 or anwar's 195? Every innings was great. But i would rate sachin's innings against SA the best. Simply because it came against a quality bowling attack. Steyn, morkel, botha, etc. The second best must be sehwag's 219, For the simple reason it was the most entertaining innings i have ever seen. Anwar's 195 came against the weakest bowling attack which had bowlers like, kuruvilla, sunil joshi, robin singh, kumble, sachin etc.... Rate your best innings.:two_thumbs_up:
