Dravid_TheWall Posted December 20, 2011 Posted December 20, 2011 http://zeenews.india.com/sports/cricket/never-had-great-experience-playing-under-chappell-nehra_734203.html Gurgaon: A day after former India captain Sourav Ganguly termed Greg Chappell a "mad" man, pacer Ashish Nehra today said that he too "never had a great experience" playing under the Australian. The out-of-favour Indian speedster said though he did not play enough cricket under former India coach Chappell, the couple of series` which he was involved in were not worth remembering. "I only played two-three series when Chappell was the coach of Indian team, but I can say I never had a great experience. Everyone had some issue with him so there must be something wrong," Nehra said. The left-arm bowler from Delhi, who has scalped 14 wickets in the Ranji season so far, was though optimistic about returning to international cricket and said he will keep working hard to get the desired result. "I have not played international cricket since last seven months or so. I have only played a few practice games but I am working hard on my game and rest depends upon the selectors," the seamer said. Nehra fractured his finger during the World Cup semi-final against Pakistan on March 30 and since then has not found favour from the national selectors. The bowler, though, did submit a fitness certificate to the BCCI prior to India`s ODI series against England in September. The 32-year-old was also dropped from the central contract, but he remains positive about the future. "As I have mentioned I will keep doing my bit and rest depends upon the selectors whether they find me good enough at this level or not. I have given proof of my fitness and now it is the selectors who have to take a call," Nehra said when asked if he was aggrieved at being left out of the central contract. When a kid asked Nehra, who along with Murali Kartik and Mithun Manhas was here to announce the Max New York Life Igenius scholarship award, what made him the bowler he is, the Delhi lad replied it was the long hours he has spent in the net. "As a youngster I used to ask the same question to myself, how will I learn to swing the ball? But it all comes with practice," Nehra said. PTI First Published: Tuesday, December 20, 2011, 20:22 Good luck on your comeback Ashish. You had served Indian cricket well when given the chance and it is a travesty how the likes of Mithun and VK are ahead of you in test cricket when we have such depleted bowling stocks. He deserved a contract of some sort for the next 2 years, it is unfair. Prime example of falling out of favour for the wrong reasons.
VRV Singh Posted December 20, 2011 Posted December 20, 2011 Not even Nehra is championing himself for Tests, he said his body can't do it. I don't know why you are, leaving aside Mithun and VK's crappyness.

cowboysfan Posted December 20, 2011 Posted December 20, 2011 Jesus f christ, stop the damn whinning.chappell is ancient history, dont see the point of bringing his name up again.
mishra Posted December 20, 2011 Posted December 20, 2011 Chapell stuff is :potstir: BCCI wants FOOTAGE
Pagalpanti Posted December 20, 2011 Posted December 20, 2011 ^^ Well if the media asks him question he is bound to answer? Not like he is going out and giving statements like afretard.
bulbul Posted December 20, 2011 Posted December 20, 2011 Ganguly is calling his old friends :hysterical:
Number Posted December 20, 2011 Posted December 20, 2011 For ODIs , I'll take him at least for a year. Our bowling in death overs sucks. He didn't talk much about chappell .. just mentioned everyone had issues . so the title is not quite fair.

He should be in ODI squad no doubt. Much better than the pacers we have been trying. Even if he doesn't play every series or game, his experience is useful for our younger pacers and also he will help our ODI bowling which doesn't look too good on the seamer front. I also think he deserved to be in test squad. The amount of injuries we have had before this series has begun and Nehra not even in the mix for replacement.

I wouldn't have Nehra in test squad if everyone fit but considering no Sree, no PK, Ishant and ZK injury prone, Munaf injured, surprised to see Nehra not there. Yet Mithun and VK are. :((
chainsmoker1985 Posted December 20, 2011 Posted December 20, 2011 I don't know... I may be wrong... But Indian team members are over-criticizing Greg Chappell. That too after 3 years of Chappell's departure. Its like someone suddenly wakes up from sleep and start criticizing Greg Chappell. May be to gain sympathy or just trying to show his support to other team members, everyone has to criticize Greg at least once

The gruesome twosome are crap, but their bodies can hold up. To be honest I would rather move away from likes of him and Munaf even in ODIs. India has the making of a younger team with fewer slouches moving forward (Ashwin can be the anomaly :cantstop:). Can see Nehra playing here and there though.
chainsmoker1985 Posted December 20, 2011 Posted December 20, 2011 Everyone is reacting to Greg's autobiography which criticized our team. Ok got it.... So this is just a reaction to that....?? Then its fine, otherwise it looks awkward
chainsmoker1985 Posted December 20, 2011 Posted December 20, 2011 maybe they get asked by the press for their opinions? i dont think they want into the nearest media outlet to express themselves. Indian media :giggle: Seriously, there are some really ridiculous news channels there like IndiaTV and E24
pensionplan Posted December 20, 2011 Posted December 20, 2011 Poor Nehra did not like getting kicked out for being unfit and being asked to work hard and stay fit.
pensionplan Posted December 20, 2011 Posted December 20, 2011 I also learned that Nehra pocketed 50 bucks from Ganguly for saying these things. Good for him.
Brainfade Posted December 20, 2011 Posted December 20, 2011 Jesus f christ' date='stop the damn whinning.chappell is ancient history, dont see the point of bringing his name up again.[/quote'] Come on, man. Don't rain on the parade. India in Australia. Big series. Let's get the temperature up a little bit!!
bulbul Posted December 21, 2011 Posted December 21, 2011 Indian media :giggle: Seriously' date=' there are some really ridiculous news channels there like IndiaTV and E24[/quote'] T now,IBN or NDTV are not far behind in such news :winky:
