chainsmoker1985 Posted December 25, 2011 Posted December 25, 2011 We have seen after Adam Gilchrist retirement, their no. 7 spot is also vulnerable coz Haddin has failed to match the standards of Gilchrist. He is doing 'just about a decent job' not even good. So, in your knowledge, is there any keeper batsman in domestic circuit of Australia who can replace Haddin and do a better job. While we are talking about Keepers, MSD is also doing a fine job but with bat he is still an 'under-achiever'. But he has the burden of captaincy in all formats and he has won us a WC recently, so we cannot/should not complain. But, is there any upcoming keeper in OUR domestic circuit who can be a good future prospect. Khuda na khasta, kal MSD ko injury ho jae, then what are the options?? IMO, PaPa is not the choice. Merry Christmas To All :cake: :present: :beer_yum: :santaclaus: :thrasher:
Lord Posted December 25, 2011 Posted December 25, 2011 Gilchrist was just too good, anyone would look bad relatively. Dhoni esp is fine for a no.7

Old guy Posted December 25, 2011 Posted December 25, 2011 for india uday kaul can become good prospect in future for australia any one is better than this haddin :P
ganeshran Posted December 25, 2011 Posted December 25, 2011 Haddin is a hack of a batsmen, It should be Matt Wade or Tim Paine who should be playing. Unfortunately Paine is out for atleast another 4-5 weeks after being advised of more surgery in his fingers. For MSD, PaPa isnt the long term replacement, more like a stop gap. In tests the next in line is Saha. In ODIs they are persisting with PaPa, but his time is more or less up. Others in line are CM Gautham, Uday Kaul. there is also the Hyderabad keeper Ibrahim Khaleel who was done very well in the current Ranji season, but he is already 29 and would be 32 or 33 by the time Dhoni decides to retire so age isnt on his side
chainsmoker1985 Posted December 25, 2011 Author Posted December 25, 2011 for india uday kaul can become good prospect in future for australia any one is better than this haddin :P Yes, Uday Kaul is a good option. He has the caliber and very good technique. But, he lacks 'Power Game'. He just can't hit big shots
chainsmoker1985 Posted December 25, 2011 Author Posted December 25, 2011 It is surprising that IPL has given us so many options in Batting Dept and Bowling Dept. but a good solid wicket-keeper batsman is still missing

Just hope Dhoni don't decide to retire atleast before next World-Cup, otherwise we will be fecked

These days, Most of the batsmen who are successful should be able to play big shots as well. I mean, they should have both kind of games, defensive and attacking. Coz you never know, even 350 scores in ODIs are not safe enough. So, from that prospective, Uday Kaul might not suits us in future.
Old guy Posted December 25, 2011 Posted December 25, 2011 Hmmmm.... Just hope Dhoni don't decide to retire atleast before next World-Cup' date=' otherwise we will be fecked[/quote'] he isnt going anywhere and in next world cup players like rohit, kohli, gambhir etc will be much more important then dhoni cos conditions would be tougher mroeover dhoni isnt going anywhere world cup is biggest tournament he will def play it

chainsmoker1985 Posted December 25, 2011 Author Posted December 25, 2011 How do you see Dinesh Karthik as a future keeper batsman for India?? They have completely sidelined him atm
Old guy Posted December 25, 2011 Posted December 25, 2011 Yes' date=' his captaincy and his leadership qualities are good but his selection and some weird field placements sometimes baffles me :nervous: Now, you tell me, I have seen Zaheer Khan and Munaf Patel fielding at point under his captaincy :hmmm: Then sometimes I see there is no long on or long off even in the death overs. :wall:[/quote'] that point one lmfao idk wht he was trying to do there :hysterical: but abt long on and long off maybe it was strategy to bowl shorter many people use it but on indian grounds it wont work lol
ganeshran Posted December 25, 2011 Posted December 25, 2011 KDK is an awful keeper and an average (sometimes above average) batsman, not too different from PaPa. Selectors need to try out other younger backup keepers.
MCcricket Posted December 25, 2011 Posted December 25, 2011 Dhoni excellent option for ODI, not a good test bat, especially outside the sub continent, Kaul I saw him bat, his numbers are good, but he did not cath my eye, maybe Atours will show what he can do, Naman Ojha is talented but has to learn to play in longer format, Rayudu can try to find a niche as keeper bat, that might be his chance, Karthik is talented but not consistent, Parthiv seems overawed and needs to learn to play on front foot also to score hundreds
