Out of those 10000, about 9000 have been scored on utter flat tracks. Doesn't deserve the level of respect given to the other 8 in the elite list. Congratz anyways.

Congratulations! I think among all the Test batsmen who have reached 5 figures his is the least deserving. His achievement is at par with Dan Vettori's status among the 350+ wicket takers or Kapil Dev and Bhajji among 400+ wickets takers. Nevertheless, just like the bowlers he has actually made those runs and deserves credit for it immaterial of whether he is a flat track bully or not

One of the greatest Sri Lankan batsman after Arvinda & Sanga...for people talking bout his runs in subcontinent ..even now Sri lanka gets 1 tour of Australia or SA in 5 yrs, u cannot really blame him.

I like Mahela. He is a good guy and as a batsman easy on the eye. But the 10k club lost its lustre with him getting there for the simple fact that he did little else outside of Colombo.

did anyone else notice that out of all the batsmen in the 10000 run club all three indians, ST ,SMG, RD are the only ones with more away runs than home runs... its also because they have played more away games but how is it possible that india plays so much more away than it plays at home while sri lanka and pakistan never play away in australia and south africa that frequently???
