panther Posted December 27, 2011 Posted December 27, 2011 i think siddle also hit 150 pattison 153 even hilfenhaus was bowling in the early 140s
nballa Posted December 27, 2011 Posted December 27, 2011 they should also start showing 'speed off the bat' next to the score. remember its not how it starts, its how it ends.
FreakazoiD Posted December 27, 2011 Posted December 27, 2011 What was Siddle's highest speed? I don't think he crossed 150.1 k which was Yadav's highest. So by that logic, Yadav > Siddle. Now, by your logic, Siddle > All of them And I have just proved, Yadav > Siddle So, it comes out to be, Yadav > All of them :yay: 1) Siddle's highest was 153 2) You always look at average speed, not peak. These speed guns have an inherent zero error, and are also prone to human error (marking the point of ball release etc.), so you are bound to have a few outliers that would skew the data.
ShebbySB Posted December 28, 2011 Posted December 28, 2011 Ishant has bowled one at 150.1,he's consistently bowling 148+
Utalk Posted December 28, 2011 Posted December 28, 2011 Speed guns dont convince me. Hilfy bowled one at 152k but that was never a 152 delivery.
nsareen Posted December 28, 2011 Posted December 28, 2011 Speed guns dont convince me. Hilfy bowled one at 152k but that was never a 152 delivery. Arguments are open, the pitch, speed gun calibration is what provides the speed gun reading. One can argue on this pitch/ and the calibration on the speed gun, the speeds are a little on a higher side, but thats always the case in Australia. So we should go by what has been shown, not what you feel, zaheer was shown many a times 128kmph on the same pitch, would you say he bowled one at 128kmph but dint look like 128kmph ??
HouMac Posted December 28, 2011 Posted December 28, 2011 These numbers are hard to believe. Pretty much every bowler seems to be bowling significantly faster in this series than at any point in their career. Ishant was struggling to bowl 140 kph just a year ago. Now he's close to 150? Not buying this speed gun.

Not buying this speed gun. Ok.. Hold on to that thought of yours. 1) In the recently concluded IPL in India Ishant bowled many a times over 150kmph, i myself have posted that many a times. 2) Ishant was easily close to 147kmph during the West Indies series in India. 3) The pitch has got faster after the 1st day as the SUN came out , the pitch got faster and faster. 4) Speed gun Calibration varies in every country, australia has been like this for years, so it's consistent with what has been going on for years, akhtar, lee, bond tait ... everyone has crossed 150kmph in australia, because the speed guns have reported so. 5) I remember Mohammad Amir touching 150 in Australia, but he was not able to do it elsewhere, so again touching the same point, speed gun calibration varies in every country, it's not the same everywhere, because the pitch, speed guns, conditions have a huge impact on the speed displayed by the Speed guns. Going by what we have i feel it's pretty consistent to what it has been always, so give credit to who is bowling at those speeds.
Malcolm Merlyn Posted December 28, 2011 Author Posted December 28, 2011 The Pakistanis when Aamiir touched 150 in AUS it was all gung ho,if Indians touched it,its speed gun error.Sore losers and whiners the whole lot of them
Malcolm Merlyn Posted December 28, 2011 Author Posted December 28, 2011 What was the quickest ball by Yadav and Ishant today?
Utalk Posted December 28, 2011 Posted December 28, 2011 The Pakistanis when Aamiir touched 150 in AUS it was all gung ho' date='if Indians touched it,its speed gun error.Sore losers and whiners the whole lot of them[/quote'] Listen get over yourself. I am never the one to have orgasms over speed of a bowler. Best bowler in the world by a mile bowls at 140k. My comment was re Hilfy clocking 152k that didn't look like a 152k delivery. That's my opinion and it has nothing to do with nationality of the bowlers.
CoverDrive Posted December 28, 2011 Posted December 28, 2011 The speed guns are probably about 5 K faster
express bowling Posted December 28, 2011 Posted December 28, 2011 Second innings Yadav --- fastest that I know of 147.2 k ( may have bowled a quicker one , if anybody knows, please update ) generally 142 k to 146 k [ first innings fastest 150.1 k ] Ishant --- fastest 152.2 k , generally 145 k to 150 k

Go over and look at the comments by your fellow countrymen regarding,if i may suggest go to a certain forum n you will know.

During the world cup 2003, every pacer was bowling 140 k + and even Nehra touched 149.9 k, something which he never really came close to before or after. Shoaib and Lee bowled 160 k there only, about 5k quicker than their normal fastest deliveries around that time. But nobody criticised their speeds saying that the speed gun was tampered. So we should accept Umesh and Ishant's 150 k + deliveries also.
CG Posted December 28, 2011 Posted December 28, 2011 Zaheer khan was 125-135 km/h that should clear all doubts about validity of speed guns .Pitches have some pace in australia so its bound that pacers try extra hard. Ishant was 150+ in ipl Ishant was 145+ in westindies ishant was 135-145 in england ishant was 145+ in india against wi so why suprised.
ShebbySB Posted December 28, 2011 Posted December 28, 2011 Ishant's fastest was 152.2kph & he bowled 15-16 deliveries clicking 150 today. His average speed was 146.8kph Umesh's fastest was 150.1kph in the 1st innings but his fastest in the 2nd innings was 148.5kph & was around 143-146kph consistently. He could've easily bowl faster but cut down his pace a bit to swing the ball which he succeded & took 4 wkts.
ShebbySB Posted December 28, 2011 Posted December 28, 2011 I bet Ishant & Umesh will bowl 155kph in Perth.
