ViruRulez Posted December 28, 2011 Posted December 28, 2011 We need to find a technically sound batsman as keeper soon. He is not good enough for tests. To be honest, he might be even worse than UV and Raina in terms of technique but we have been carrying him only because he is captain. Need to groom some domestic keeper with great technique and great keeping for the test keeper position in the next few years. Dhoni does not suit the test format well and hardly makes a good knock especially in bouncy tracks where every batsman matters. In tests, we are still dependent mainly on the big 4-5 including Sachin, Dravid, Zak and Veeru. Dhoni has almost had no contribution to the success of the team. I find his captaincy in tests too defensive too at times. He is definitely overrated in tests.

Otherwise he will only be a great limited overs captain and let the nation down in tests. +1 Today was prime example and it has been repeated too often with his batting and defensive fields when the only way to win after having 4 wickets is having fielders close not at point boundary against the turn lol.:nervous:

Constant admiration ? :winky: Even Dhoni admits that he is better in the limited overs format but some fans won't. I have not said anywhere that Dhoni should be dropped but anybody with any knowledge of cricket would admit that Dhoni has been a strange test captain and often he has won tests because of our superb batting. He needs to improve his test captaincy. A quick is bowling around the wicket and often bowling short balls but still no short leg and / or leg slip ? Then what is the point of bowling those deliveries ? 25 % of runs are given away at the thirdman area but still no third man ever !! A new batsman is at the crease, opposition tottering at 140 odd for 5, a genuine swing bowler bowling but still no third slip !!!! There are many many such cases which defy logic.

Manny_Pacquiao Posted December 28, 2011 Posted December 28, 2011 forget his batting, we all know his batting sucks ass. so does he. he even admited that his technique isnt 'sound' at a press conference. he knows his limitations. its his captaincy that we need to focus on. my favourite dhoni shithead move of the day was that time he removed umesh yadav from the attack right after he beat ponting with a beaut, cutting him in half and nearly bowling him thru the gate. can't be having that, out you go and in comes ishant sharma. well done, dhoni. and of course, the typical 'OPEN THE FIELD UP AND LET THE SET BATSMAN TAKE SINGLES' strategy.

Also, his Captaincy hasn't exactly been very inspiring in Test for a long time.

In Test cricket, his keeping isn't great and over the last 2 years, his only decent performances with the bat have been from 400/5 on flat tracks - on anything else our tail pretty much begins with him. While I've said we don't have anyone better in the past, I'm struggling to see how Saha could do any worse than this guy in Tests away from the subcontinent.

But he is becoming progressively worse in Test cricket, particularly away from the subcontinent.
