After a self imposed break I am pleased to be back. It allowed me to get ahead with revision and also I played an indoor 10 over game with mates and many people I didn't know. I really wanted some tips from some of you who play regularly cricket, especially bowlers.. We decided maximum we can bowl is 3 overs per person (random I know). Anyway my first two overs at the start of the game got me 2 wickets and I only gave away 10 runs. A lot of pace and I kept varying line and length to keep batsmen guessing. I came back for last over and I got hit for 4 as was a full toss. After that I insulted the guys mum (shouldn't have but he was pissing me off) and he hit my next garbage quick delivery for 6. I still gave it back to him saying he is not fit for gully cricket and fires once in a blue moon. The guy who was captaining us told me to keep composure so I bowled a fast leg cutter which he only got for 1. Anyway what is best method as a bowler for limited overs? What works for you?

That is how it goes for anyone in any walk of life.. some times, just that the day/time(it could be a day/week/month/year!!!) is not yours...there is no formula how you react in those times.. just hang around.. just keep trying your best..and take any/every mental notes of those moments.

As I said - trust your abilties, stick to the plan.... it indeed is difficult to 'stick-to-plan' when nothing is going for you.. but if you indeed planned for bad moments, (your bottom-line).. then try sticking to it... do your best to not get carried away and try and explore new stuff im-promptu... In short - strategizing is something you should do much before the "moments of execution".. and just stick to the plan in execution times... even significant part of 'improvisation' can be pre-planned/mentally-conditioned.. that is 'SRT' way.. another way is 'Sehwag' way.. just trust yoru natural instincts, and play in the moment..........as of now I am not able to put it in words..................roughly, as a person - this is something you grow up with - executing instinctlvely or sticking to a plan methodically.

I have only just gone back to playing and I am in my mid 20's so just getting into my groove. I try to remember always what I did well. This is a problem I have. I never plan in advance. I always plan each ball before I bowl it. This is based on how the batsmen has handled the previous deliveries/match situation e.t.c Some people are just so hard to bowl too, I bowled a decent yorker and the guy turned it into a full toss by coming down the track. I will try and plan more and then execute it when I join a club next summer. Thanks for your advice!

It is the way since I was a kid, not just with cricket but everything. I shouldn't have kept sledging but couldn't help it. If you want to do something Dil se khelo :yay:

The best advice to become a really good bowler is to study everything that Sreesanth does, his run up, temperament, lines and lengths, sledging etc... and then do the complete opposite :giggle:

Just bowl as fast as u can. You should bowl with a intention that ur next delivery should always be faster than ur previous one
I actually try and bowl within myself then go flat out. Once a batsmen gets used to your pace, it is like facing a bowling machine. Especially as we play with wind ball, not any movement. So I bowl 80-90% of my normal pace and only bowl flat out once in the over. Also vary my line n length every ball.

Anyone else play here as a seam bowler? Come on.
I don't bowl anymore but when I used to be an underarm fast bowler in gully cricket....I used to test the batsman with the first 3 balls and then I would get an idea as to what strategy he is looking for......for eg if he is looking to score singles and rotate the strike....I would dart the ball at full pace on the leg stump so that he would hit it in the next building and get out.... Moral of the story.....strategise for each batsmen and try to understand his mindset

Ok cool but what the hell, underarm cricket?! I remember once aged 8 going to India with parents. Arriving in mumbai and I saw some young kids and one was bowling underarm. Is this quite common for young kids? I first played aged 10 and never was underarm. Guess we have sport lessons at school about technique. But other than that they were pointless lessons.
