Australia names unchanged team for second Test in Sydney BY: PETER LALOR From: The Australian January 02, 2012 As an unchanged Australian team prepares to battle India in the second Test at the SCG, Peter Lalor says it's anyone's game. RYAN Harris has not been selected for the Sydney Test with the Australian's opting to go with the same side which won in Melbourne. There had been some suggestions that a four-pronged pace attack might be used to keep the Indians on the back foot, but while Sydney does not offer the raging turn it once did it was inconceivable there would be a change. If Harris was chosen Nathan Lyon would have missed out which would have been a hard call on the inexperienced spinner who has done nothing wrong since making his debut in Sri Lanka. Michael Clarke announced there would be no changes after a net session in Sydney on the eve of the Test. "It's a tough call on 'Rhino'. He's been a wonderful bowler for us and I love having him in and around the group," Clarke said. "It was tough to leave him out but we've stuck with the winning team in Melbourne. "The way we performed in Melbourne it's tough to change that team. We've had a long enough break as well, that was probably the other consideration. Finishing the game a day early, and the bowlers not bowling too many overs in the second innings, that has certainly helped them." Harris is recovering from a hip injury in South Africa and will struggle to find a way back into the side now that James Pattinson, Peter Siddle and Ben Hilfenhaus did so well in Melbourne. Clarke said he was looking forward to captaining his first Test at the SCG. "I think that will sink in over the next 24 hours," he said. "I think the nerves will certainly kick in, in regards to playing another Test match in front of my friends and family at the SCG and now having the chance to captain here is certainly an honour and a privilege." I am Delighted that Harris is not selected and we get some releif by playing LYON........ cricekt is also a mind game and even a no 11 Indian Batsmen is very comfortable against Spinners.......indian batsmen are bred on Spinners....we have atleast 15 to 20 spinners in india who wud be far tougher to face than Lyon.., so sachin dravid and VVS wud love lyon and if sehwag gets to face him..than lyon will have nightmare dreams and he wont get to sleep for 1 week after the test match.......I am saying in case the pacers leave sehwag to face LYON. do u guys know umesh hit lyon for 2 4's and a Six before his shot was caught by a versatile warner..........

thank you CLarke......ALl indian are grateful to you for this Help.........playing 4 dangerous fast bowlers on a fast wicket could be really lethal( not just loosing wicekts/) but also getting injured..... Do u guys remember westindies bowlers , since they always had a 4 wolf pack supported by richards as spinner ....they either used to get a batsman OUT or got him out of the Pitch on a stretcher...........ultimate aim was to get the batsman out of the PITCH.....if he gets OUT, batsmen is Saved else he has to go on a stretcher....Sunny gavaskar was the only one who got hit by them very few times els ehe kinda hit ALL and threw them out

They didnt forgot Oval debacle easily....playing 4 Fast bowlers (a guy with history of injury included) is too risky on a ground which traditionally favoured spin in last 2 days.. Does this mean will we go with 2 spinners ?

The SCG pitch increasingly gets spinner friendly as the match progresses. Ashwin will hold the key for India imo.

If you ask Indian who would they prefer playing between Harris and Lyon and they will be more than happy to see Lyon in the line up and not be coming up against Harris.

they went with same idea during Oval test against England...left out hauritz it backfired.. Also who knows Harris may not even 100% fit...without Watson they cant take the risk...there is no bkup bowler except Clarke..

but teams are different. Lyon did not do anything at MCG. You always play your best bowlers rather than playing someone for variation specially against a team which does not fancy good pacers. They made a mistake because against England they could have played a spinner, but then Swann is miles ahead than Haurtiz.
