Too much hype around rohit sharma and rahane ...both are odi failures...they only good against west indies
That is the problem in the mentality. ODI successes are deemed as a prerequisite for a test spot. That is why Raina and Yuvraj got such an extended run in the team and now Kohli is getting. Tests and ODIs are miles apart. A good ODI batsman may not be a good test batsman. Select the 2 teams independently. Unfortunately, our selectors are picking test match teams on the basis of IPL T20 performances.

india are batting like bangladesh and australia are batting like zimbabbwe :hysterical::hysterical::hysterical: surely cowan, marsh and warner is the worst top 3 in the history of aussie cricket? they are ****ing woeful. can't even score on their own pitches. the aussies are making the same mistake as the indians in picking players on IPL/big bash/ODI exploits (warner, marsh) and journeymen batsmen with mediocre FC records (cowan).

Why is this a surprise to anyone ? This batting lineup lives and dies on Sehwag. When he succeeds, all our fookers look good, when he fails we fold up like a tent. Look back at the past, you will see that in overseas conditions, our batting has only been as good as our openers. When our openers succeed our middle order fires and that lifts the tail. However when they fail, the house of cards simply collapses. I even wasted my time debating this on ICF a while ago. I should have simply waited and let hindsight drive home this point. Sacking the coach, the captain, our middle order etc is simply missing the point. None of this will change our fortunes until the openers get our act together. Speaking of Sehwag, he has become a bit arrogant now. "That's the way he plays" is not good enough a justification for his failures. That's not how he played back in his 2003-04, 2007-08 tour of Australia. In his first tour, he was yet to make a name for himself and therefore unassuming. He always gave the first hour to the bowlers and then pounded the bowlers subsequently. Even in 2007-08, he was on a comeback trail and therefore a bit more circumspect. Now his reputation seems to be working against him. He looks to score off every ball. He has to go back and do what he did in his first tour. Only he can save us from a white wash.

tbh, at least i never saw the indian batting close to good outside SC.... they have got older, useless, just a great line up in paper, crap on field.....pathetic fielders to add on

kohli' date=' raina, yuvraj were all picked on ODI, international T20 and IPL performances.[/quote'] Yes but there are other 5 sealed places of players which were not picked because of IPL/ODI hardly anyone is performing. India is paying price for not grooming enough youngsters.India had brilliant chance of playing new faces against weak Windies but BCCI stick with old guns

I agree BUT the likes of Dravid/Laxman only play tests so they would have been coming into this series with no real practice if they had not been picked against WI and its hard to perform here as it is. I think there should be more rotations, so you have Laxman rested for Pujara for 1 test especially if hes not performing.
