bulbul Posted January 4, 2012 Posted January 4, 2012 Sorry to interfere Boss, do you really believe Sachins bowling won us matches in Kolkotta and Adelaiade? If not from you this can be the biggest Lahori Logic presented in ICF
zen Posted January 4, 2012 Author Posted January 4, 2012 This is what I said : 1. Beg to differ on the fielding as you will have to dig really deep to find a match where Baasu dropped a catch. Reg wkt taking abilities ... SRT has won matches because of his Bowling (Both Kolkatta and Adelaide would have been draws but for his very crucial wkts of well set batsmen ) and whatever difference that still remains in the bowling dept is taken care of by the humongous gap in terms of batting ability . In other words the Gap between SRT the bowler and Sobers the Bowler is not as wide as SRT the Batsman and Sobers the Batsman. So why dont you tellme how a difference of about 200 wkts in favour of Sobers outweighs a difference of 7200 runs (and counting) which is in fav of SRT ? 2. I would bank on Rameez to do just as well as Hammond had he had the luxury of playing against the same sort of Bowlers that Hammond faced given that he could score a 50 against Marshall,Ambrose,Walsh. So why dont you show me which bowlers from Hammonds time where as lethal as those 3 before shouting ? 3. Richards is not a equal legend as SRT . One of the reasons is that Richards has a big hole in his record wherein his last 70% of his career fetched him runs at a modest avg of 45. why dont you tell me how this is acceptable ? 1. you calculated the runs-gap based on SRT playing 180 odd tests and Sobers 90 odd .... 200+ wkts in 90 odd tests to go with those runs 2. still asking for bowlers' list? 3. last 70% of Richard's career he has done well against sides with good bowling attacks! Are we suppose to judge him from his performance against Ind? on one hand you say that Rameez > Hammond because Rameez scored a 50 and on the other hand you can't judge Richards after his numerous exploits against good bowlers!
zen Posted January 4, 2012 Author Posted January 4, 2012 RPT strikes again ... so why don't you show me a bunch of plyers that have managed to play and succeed as long as SRT has ? Did anybody stop Sobers from playing on ? yes and I am certain you wont provide one :hysterical: That has happened because you went by no.of tests ... try by Inngs :haha: I have also said that Richards would be just as good as Bradman .:winky: * SRT 186 tests in approx. 22 years ----> approx. 8.5 tests per year * Sobers 93 tests in approx. 20 years ----> approx. 4.7 tests per year So how is he suppose to play more, keep playing in old age or somehow increase the number of tests he played in his time :giggle: Ok, so we use filters after filters to see that Viv is not an ATG :haha:
Patiala Peg Posted January 4, 2012 Posted January 4, 2012 * SRT 186 tests in approx. 22 years ----> approx. 8.5 tests per year * Sobers 93 tests in approx. 20 years ----> approx. 4.7 tests per year So how is he suppose to play more, keep playing in old age or someone increase the number of tests he played in his time :giggle: Ok, so we use filters after filters to see that Viv is not an ATG :haha: Don't you know it is Sobers fault by bakwaas bhai's Lahori logic. It was also Don Bradman's fault because WW2 happened and he could play only 52 tests. And then the clown reacts with vile abuses when people mock his twistedness.
Utalk Posted January 4, 2012 Posted January 4, 2012 Rameez is known as the worst Pakistani opener to have played 40+ tests. BB saying he is better then Hammond suggests we should respect Rambo. Hail Rambo...

zen Posted January 4, 2012 Author Posted January 4, 2012 Rettard ... Iam not saying SRT is twice the player that Sobers was despite the fact that he had the advantage of not playing against the likes of SAF and SL with Murali and obviously the great West Indian bowlers. Playing 185 tests which is certain to go past 200 and continue to be the top dawg is not a joke. But why would a gadha like you understand the benefits of a halwa ok I get it SRTs record should be halved in order to make it comparable to others but Trundlers from olden days should be just assumed to be as equal to modern day greats. Kyon teri Gaddi phir sey atak gayi ^ that's pure nonsense :hysterical: Let's address your key issue: playing 185 tests is no joke Dravid 1996 - 2011 ----> 161 tests in approx 16 years -----> 10 tests per year ponting 1995-2011 -----> 160 tests Kallis 1995 - 2011 ----> approx. 150 tests that's means SRT has only 24-25 tests more 1989-1994 time frame .... which is at approx 4 tests per year .... and we are suppose to think that's somekind of an achievement :haha: Btw, no one is tallking abt doubling or halving the records but seeing things in proper perspective :winky:
zen Posted January 4, 2012 Author Posted January 4, 2012 test played SRT and Dravid Before Dravid * SRT: 1989 - June 1996 -----> 39 tests in approx 7 years @ 5.6 tests per year Link Since Dravid-2011 * SRT: 146 tests in 15.5 years @ 9.5 tests per year LINK * Dravid: 161 tests in 15.5 years @ 10.4 tests per year Link SRT and Dravid are roughly of the same age
adi B Posted January 4, 2012 Posted January 4, 2012 lol at tendulkar> sobers as an allrounder.... tbh tendulkar is not the greatest in tests as he is projected out to be, he has the most 100s no doubt, but he has also played the most no of tests+ his average is not mindboggling, even sanga nd kallis have better average than him

P.S. Did u even watch cricket in 90's?
tothepoint Posted January 4, 2012 Posted January 4, 2012 Some people really need to brush up their history. Saying that one considers Sachin as the greatest is OK, but doing so degrading other greats is pure stupidity. Bradman,Hammond,Sobers,Richards. Who's next? No hint is needed for who he will be. On a similar note,10 yrs down the line likes of Raina will be hailed as a better batsman than Sachin, who will be mocked at for having played just 1 International t20(just like some people are having a great time extolling Sobers one-day records). Heck, even now people are divided between Sehwag,Sachin,Dhoni,Ganguly,Dravid,Gambhir and even Yuvraj when asked who their favorite batsman is. Unlike in the 90s,when it was Sachin all over and I am talking about "ordinary" Indians here not self-acclaimed "cricket experts". And remember they are only going to get smarter, more and more of them. They will bring down Sachin using the same parameters that some of you guys are using for Richards,Sobers etc. Realize this, accept it in a humble way or be prepared to get a taste of your own medicine. If you are a true fan, save his legacy. Dont destroy it going against everyone else.
