our bowlers have also always lacked the mental discipline and maybe skill level to bowl the ball on a certain part of the pitch for long spells. they constantly drift onto leg stump, bowl short, bowl outside off stump. batsmen are constantly able to relieve pressure. our bowlers need to look at footage at mcgrath, he always figured out quickly the line and length needed for the pitch he was bowling on and 90% of his deliveries were within a few cms of that spot. he hardly needed any miracle balls, just kept nagging away and grinded the batsmen down into giving him wickets.

Our captain does not know how to set plans and field and use their bowlers to take wickets. He just waits for batsmen to make mistake. You need active captain and to planning. Dhoni has gone very laid back off late and expects bowler will do everything themselves. You need to set a particular field and ask bowlers to bowl their. When they are not getting movement, quick bowlers like Yadav and Ishant can certainly use short stuff with fielders back and short leg, but I dont see them doing this. When they bowl short, that too is not an effort ball directed at the body. What is the use of that short ball. Short ball must be directed at body chin height to be effective. Bowling is lacking aggressiveness. If you can bowl 145K, you must be aggressive if wicket does not fall by conventional swing or not getting swing, vary the length not the line, keep it around off stump but they have strayed too straight or down the leg side too often, all whether it is Yadav, Zak, Ishant, in perspective of this test.

For that, they will need to do methodical practice in the nets. Every thing cannot go well in match straightaway until they practice that like Pattinson did with coach Mcdermott and now he hits immaculate lengths and lines rarely and strays on pads or down leg or bowls harmless short and wide even when bowling at 145K.

Poor bowling by bowlers and defensive fields by captain. Even average players like Ryder and Mcculum have scored double against us.

Yeah I kinda hope someone breaks Lara's record AND wins the match. Always thought Sehwag would do it to be honest, and i still hope he does. Cant say I can really see Clarke getting there, just doesn't sit well with me for some reason, thought Cook would get close but choked in the 290's!

More than line, it's the length that our bowlers always messes up. Either it's too full when they try to bowl a 'fulish' length or it's not short enough when they try bowl a bouncer (also, the lack of pace doesn't help the cause either). Most good bowlers find out where to pitch the ball so it's a good length ball and then stick to it. Then they try to vary the line. If the bowler sticks to the good length area, that makes it very hard to score and build up the pressure. Prime example would be Yadav. Whenever he bowls that outswinger on a good length like the Oz bowlers, the batsmen have looked uncomfortable. Even Clarke palyed and missed when he was on 150+. But invariably, the next ball would either be too full or on the pads... so no pressure on batsman. If one looks at Steyn, his stock ball is the outswinger at similar pace to Yadav's. But unlike Yadav, he can pitch the ball on that good length area 90% of the times and hence he's so difficult to get away. When I used to play for my school team, our coach would always say that to find the good length for a particular wicket, try to pitch the ball on such a length that when it passe the stumps it's about 2-3 inches from the top of the stumps. I dont know why it would be such a trivial matter for our bowlers to find a good length while even new guys like Pattinson have no trouble finding the length.

Simple, our pace bowlers are pussies. When chips are down, they just go through the motion. Also a team full of chubby puddings unable to run and field to international standards.

the main reason is , indian bowling is very poor , they dont know how to bowl bouncers, yorkers, slower one+ with zak not present, trust me even the bangladesh bowling looks superior to ours........ this captain fool also had a big part to play with his crap field settings + our bowlers are not good athletes, they are hardly fit, so all these add up to the fact that yeah, we are **** in bowling :--D tbh, almost half the batsmen in the world may have their highest score vs india :omg:

which record? the 277 he scored in scg or the 400*? well any way not only we, even lara has no hope from this indian bowling  only way his record can be intact is by making duas nd hope the pakis join him nd somehow clark gets a brainfart

what about before 2009?
I have mentioned that in post #12. when i consider the time period between 2001-2007 when Dhoni was NOT the Captain . India is at number 6. So it has become easier for opposition batsmen to score 150 + against India under Dhoni's captaincy. ind1.jpg
