Ok I know it is too early for this thread and I am not trying to steal anyone's thunder by opening a thread about this so prematurely Looking at how things are going so far....I have mentally prepared myself for a 4-0whooping....Anything that changes this would be a pleasant and wonderful surprise which brings to my point.... How much will the TRI-series mean to you....atleast for me I would think of it as a way to restore a little pride after the already assumed and '90%probable thrashing in tests'...

There is no passion for odi cricket rite now when test series is on regardless of it not going our way. One know when even an odi series against England is going on, we are eagerly thinking about the future test series tour to Aus, but for odi's I can't seem to bring any passion rite away since a big test series still has 2 tests left in it. Infact I seem to think the other way. Soon this series will be over in no time. All 4 tests will be done, and we would have to wait another 3-4 years for the next Australia tour.

after a 4-0 whooping I expect the ODIs to go the same way as they did in England and Australia has been a better ODI side than test in recent times. So yeah.....

I always believe ODIs are as important if not more important than tests so will certainly be looking for it. Though dont agree with trying to restore some pride bit.We shouldnt mingle ODIs and tests. The CB series is important to build towards the next world cup in 2015. U cant restore pride for losing in tests by winning an ODI series. That can be only done by winning the tests in similar way when we play them next time.

In recent times??????????????????? Although India won the last ODI WC and are world champs (well done :winky:), Aus have been the ICC No.1 ranked ODI team for years, and I mean years. On the current rankings, the ditance between 1st and second is miles. It is almost No. 1 Aus, then daylight, then days of travel then No.2. :two_thumbs_up::dance::hysterical:

I was comparing Aus test side and Aus ODI side. In recent times the ODI side has been better than the test side. Before that for about 10 years both were equally as good, the best in the world, but the test team has declined a bit in "recent times".

Why are people so obsessed with these rankings?

Only correction I would make is that the Aus decline in tests is more than a little.... :)

Tri series is nowhere close to the Tests. The only thing bigger than series win in Aus or SA would be a WC win' date=' and not a lousy tri-series which we won anyways in 2008.[/quote'] Yeah, we give on of the Tri series away every so often to keep you guys interested.... :). ;) Don't forget the Mickey Mouse or hit and giggle cricket in Feb here too!!!

There is a whole thread devoted to this with a lot of posts on this site.... ; Doh
I was referring to those posts in same way too when India were no.1 .Do we even know how this system works? Did u even care about these rankings when AUs were winning world cups left right center? So why this sudden obsession?
