master22 Posted January 14, 2012 Posted January 14, 2012 One yengster ? Screw that I give you 2 yengsters ... Kohli and Raina ... have played 8 more inngs than SRT in the last year and have scored hundred less runs ... yengsters my asss Rohit Sharma,Rahane,Pujara,Mukund if given the chance to play 20 innings on a trot i am sure they would have atleast scored a century,no point in looking good if you can't convert your starts into big ones, these 60's and 70's wont have any effect on the match other than making you look good in front of other old guys in the team.We won't come to know until the youngsters are given the confidence that they wont be dropped in spite of poor performances.I personally think SRT and RD have it in them to play one or two more years but for the sake of rebuilding process they must go!
wobblydoggy Posted January 14, 2012 Posted January 14, 2012 I dont care at all, it is only a reflection of how long he has played at test level. Most sides do not allow their youngsters even if good enough access so early to the national side. I think Vic would have been just as good or Ponting if they had been allowed access at 17 like SRT was
Singham Posted January 14, 2012 Posted January 14, 2012 Everyone has to take the blame. Standing out as a batsman is what Dravid did in England. Tendulkar has hardly done the same and as I pointed out if you are comfortably outscored by most of opposing batsmen and actually average in 30s during the series you haven't really made much of a difference. Tendulkar should not get a free pass for not doing anything of note in England and hardly doing anything of note here as well just because he is the "top scorer" averaging in 30s. Well, tell me can anyone who can replace sachin when he is in good form? None...!!! absolutely no one can replace Sachin right now. He is the best we have got. U select a player who is in form. When sachin is in form, there is absolutely nobody, nobody, can even think of droppping him.
Singham Posted January 14, 2012 Posted January 14, 2012 Rohit Sharma' date='Rahane,Pujara,Mukund if given the chance to play 20 innings on a trot i am sure they would have atleast scored a century,no point in looking good if you can't convert your starts into big ones, these 60's and 70's wont have any effect on the match other than making you look good in front of other old guys in the team.We won't come to know until the youngsters are given the confidence that they wont be dropped in spite of poor performances.I personally think SRT and RD have it in them to play one or two more years but for the sake of rebuilding process they must go![/quote'] The 70s and 80s are good enough to know a calibre and form of a player. Why would u want sachin to go when he is in form? We should be thankful to sachin that he is keeping fit himself and playing.
Deleted_User_1 Posted January 14, 2012 Posted January 14, 2012 He had the perfect opportunity to retire on top after the WC. Now the image is a bit tarnished with the debacles in England and Aus.
chainsmoker1985 Posted January 14, 2012 Author Posted January 14, 2012 It was him that said that the bowlers got us back into the match despite the 1st inngs failure. Anybody who has watched the matches will tell you that only SRT has looked like making runs. do you realize that it will still be a day 3 pitch even though the inngs is 4th ? Once you concede 200+ runs in the 1st inngs you are 99% dead. So, according 2 you it is all bowlers fault that we have conceded 200 lead when everyone in media, star cricket and channel 9 studios are saying that we are struggling in this match because of our 1st innings batting. We should have made atleast 300 in 1st innings, the pitch was not that bad at all. Pitch will now become bad. Even in 2nd innings, after conceding 200 runs lead, we are seeing that Virat and Rahul Dravid are showing some application and scoring runs

Tendulkar should not get a free pass for not doing anything of note in England and hardly doing anything of note here as well just because he is the "top scorer" averaging in 30s. I am giving the benefit of doubt to Kohli as he's our future. He is 7 Tests old and has progressively gotten better every innings he has played this series. Do you really want me to apply the same yardstick to Tendulkar who is pushing 40 and is nearing the end of his career? Do you really want to see him and other old-timers continue playing and not give youngsters like Rohit' date=' Pujara, Rahane and Mukund any chances? He, along with other seniors" don't have "lot to offer". They are pushing 40 and the next 2 years we are at home. If we don't blood the youngsters now I don't know when we ever will considering the fact these players with "lot to offer" has let us down so emphatically in Eng and Aus where they were supposed to make the difference. They made the difference all right but for the opposition :haha:[/quote'] Spot on guys. This series couple of youngster should have been slotted in the batting line up to get the experience of playing in Australia with seniors. Remember in next tour of Australia none of the fab 4 will be present unless Sachin keeps on playing for his 100th 100 even then selfishly.
chainsmoker1985 Posted January 14, 2012 Author Posted January 14, 2012 Ok, everyone is saying Sachin is our top scorer in the series. Let me tell you the only promising innings that he played was of 80 runs in the second innings of second test. Now, let me explain you the picture here of that innings. 1. We were trailing by 450+ runs in that seconds innings and there was no hope at all to clear that lead, forget about saving or winning the match. So, in a way, there was no pressure on our batsmen. We made 191 runs in first innings so everyone was expecting us to bundled out within 250 max. 2. Now, all of a sudden, we saw Sachin and VVS looking settled and scoring runs comfortably. We were 270/3 and many started hoping that Sachin and VVS can save us from an innings defeat. Sachin was on 80 and Laxman was on 60 odd. Now, as soon as pressure of saving the test started increasing, Sachin got out to Michael Clarke and soon after him, Laxman also perished. So, that shows, even when Sachin was looking settled and pressure of responsibility came on his shoulders, he crumbled. Same goes for Laxman. So, what is the use of such experienced players
flamy Posted January 15, 2012 Posted January 15, 2012 :hysterical: I'd told gunner I don't think the midget will get to 100 in aus. :cantstop:
Laaloo Posted January 15, 2012 Posted January 15, 2012 :hysterical: I'd told gunner I don't think the midget will get to 100 in aus. :cantstop: It would be hilarious if the midget plays the ODIs and doesn't get it there either :hysterical::hysterical::hysterical::hysterical::hysterical:
Nova Posted January 15, 2012 Posted January 15, 2012 ^ Doesn't matter.. he is bound to get it someday. :)
chainsmoker1985 Posted January 15, 2012 Author Posted January 15, 2012 May be now he is putting even BCCI under pressure. They can't leave or rest or drop a batsman of his stature, from the ODI matches till the time he scores a hundred and he himself is not scoring it for a long long time now. :winky:
Ultimate_Game Posted January 15, 2012 Posted January 15, 2012 :hysterical: I'd told gunner I don't think the midget will get to 100 in aus. :cantstop: Almost everyone saw it coming and that's why there was popular demand on ICF that he should play the WI odis and get it out of the way coz Aussies sure wouldn't gift it to him :haha:
bhanu Posted January 15, 2012 Posted January 15, 2012 He had the perfect opportunity to retire on top after the WC. Now the image is a bit tarnished with the debacles in England and Aus. nice post it makes sense now :hatsoff:

Understandable when you give your cricketers a "super-human" status. I can see a repeat of the Eng and Aus debacles even at home for India. Just wait for a decent opposition to land in India.

Dhonuts Dhoni Posted January 15, 2012 Posted January 15, 2012 If he doesn't get it at Adelaide he should just pack it in and call it a day. Flattest deck in Australia.
Crookbond Posted January 15, 2012 Posted January 15, 2012 If he doesn't get it at Adelaide he should just pack it in and call it a day. Flattest deck in Australia. If this is indeed the case, most of our bowlers should have retired since they didn't take enough wickets.
tothepoint Posted January 15, 2012 Posted January 15, 2012 If this is indeed the case' date=' most of our bowlers should have retired since they didn't take enough wickets.[/quote'] And Sachin would have had 1000 wickets by now. Greatesht Owl-rounder ever.
