That because we have been poor away performers our whole history , that we should just be content with the odd victory here and there. The reason Im so frustrated now is because we have the potential to change things now more than ever. The BCCI has more money now than it ever has, we have better resources now than we ever have but we are just focusing on the wrong areas.

No, I was referring to your comment about Australia dominating with a population of 20 million. If we look in population terms then things look even more grim for us. As for frustration with the BCCI, who doesn't have that? But we are powerless to change anything.

Because the BCCI at the end of the day can't make money without us. They always sack head coaches, captains, players, bowling coaches, batting coaches, fielding coaches, etc. but we end up with more or less the same results every time. Strong performances at home, mediocre performances overseas, and no accountability by the BCCI.
zen Posted January 5, 2012 Posted January 5, 2012 We are playing bad and stupid cricket The OZ batting and bowling have got the measure of Ind bowling and batting respectively. The captaincy has been mundane when some inspirational stuff was required. The ind bowlers seems to be bowling in ODI mode. I saw parts of 1st test where Ishant was trying hard but bowling the ODI length where you don't want batsman to hit boundaries .... The focus on bowling ecomically has ruined our test bowling to the extent that only extremely helpful conditions can make it effective Only thing that can help ind salvage something for is individual brilliance. Some folks will have to lift their game like Dravid did in Eng and make something happen for Ind against not only the oz but also dire performances by some of the others in team ind and captaincy

Ultimate_Game Posted January 5, 2012 Posted January 5, 2012 Can't really blame Waugh for the comments. We deserve every criticism we get based on our performances in Eng and Aus. In fact if I were an Aussie who paid to watch the 2nd test I would demand my money back as the term "match" was misleading. Aussies must be pissed off to have this Indian team as the main event of their cricket season. Based on what I've seen so far NZ deserved 4 tests and the main attraction for the summer.

Someone needs to show him the scorecards and highlights of the 0-2 drubbing their side recieved at the hands of India in Oct'2010. They literally could not get a tailender out(IS) at Mohali that could gotten them a win.

What else explains a string of six defeats ( well, almost) without a fight and without one 300 score? They were struggling even in WI, and won only because WI batsmen were worse. Eng,SA,Aus,SL,Pak,NZ are all better than India overseas currently. Australia scored 622/1 in the first innings after going down 3/37 and were well on course to get 1000! What kind of bowling do we really have?

Do keep in mind Ind beat WI in a test series away recently while Pakis only managed a draw. We had pretty poor 2 series but that doesn't change the fact we performed pretty well before these 2 series home & away.

Former Aussie players are part of the media and this sort of thing happens to every touring team in Aus. They go after the visitors and it's up to the visiting team to shut them up with their performances. If they can't do so the visiting team is in for a long long tour

Yes they will always try to say something controversial about India whether we are playing well or not because saying something against India ensures maximum internet traffic. Its pointless giving any importance to these media experts because thats exactly what they want

On every English or Aus tour you have former players and media inventing or making up an issue to undermine the team. This is where coach and team manager earns his pay by taking care of and handling such off field distractions and let players focus on cricket. Unfortunately Fletcher hasn't done much to help out the team.

Based on Kohli fiasco (fingergate) I doubt our players are immune to these distractions. Fletcher should step in and try to handle the off field distractions allowing players to focus on the game at hand.
julianlev Posted January 5, 2012 Posted January 5, 2012 India have not been at their best, but its not about home ground, it's about familiar pitches and conditions. If India were provided with a sub-continent pitch in Australia, I would back them to win. Which is exactly why Australia would never be so foolish as to provide them with one. Understand that regardless of rankings, sub-continental teams will always be at a disadvantage on fast pitches and vice versa. That said, the Indian team did lose heart very quickly and come the third day I would agree with Waugh that they did not look like they wanted to be there. Their bowling lacks the penetrative power to be effective away from the sub-continent. Khan is good, but he's not young and Ishant is really inconsistent. Still, I'm putting my head on the block and predicting a comeback in the second test, the batsmen should have found their feet in the conditions by then, and the Aussies might have gotten complacement.
