Laxman -- dead meat by end of this series -- rohit and virat both get to play as soon as he is out.. Dravid -- england home series -- Pujara comes in Sachin -- please retire within one year, we need other batsmen to hone skills before next WC and no better place than test cricket to develop the grinding and rotating skills to last 50 overs.. rahane comes in.. Sehwag - if he continues to bat as senseless as he is doing now, mukund comes in.. Gautam - couple more chances - else badri comes in.. If any of the above 5 replacements fail continuously while playing a stretch of more than 10 innings then god save us..:facepalm:

I have heard this nonsense again and again without any proof. Tell me a single quality knock Vijay played in tough conditions away from home before he was supposedly ruined by IPL.Even when he was selected for India after that 200 he was always a fair weather player.Its always Badri who would stuck around for us when conditions are tough in Ranji trophy. Vijay never had the technique.Just because he looked classy playing shots every one assumed he had the technique.But when in non-subcontinental conditions he was exposed for his lack of technique which he never had everyone suddenly blamed IPL comically. There is a reason why he even failed in T20s away from India.

He had not played away from home before that but he did play against quality bowling off Aussies and you can see the difference if you had watched him playing those innings then and now. He used to leave balls outside off stump and used to take his time but not now he was throwing his bat on every ball in WI tests. Yes he used to look classy but he was never used to play many shots. He used defend a lot and used to score slowly and was not a stroke player that is why he was not successful in IPL initially and was not a regular in eleven but then he changed his game to suit T20.

Again u are completely wrong.If he changed his technique to suit then how did score a 139 in Bangalore test in 2010.This was much after his IPL exploits where gained popularity by slogging everything out of the park.That was infact his last test played in India. So based on your logic if his new technique didnt suit test cricket then how did he played his best innings with that technique. The truth he has always been a flat track bully.Always even in Ranji trophy.When got chances against Australia he impressed because they were played on flat tracks.He impressed before IPL in 2008 and impressed after the IPL in 2010 in test cricket.IPL didnt change any of his technique. The real issue was he never had the technique to play bounce or lateral swing as his backfoot play is very poor.So he was found out in South Africa and West Indies.That has always been the case since he made his debut for India not just after IPL. So its simply illogical and even comical to blame IPL for changing a technique which Vijay never had in the first place.If Vijay was given another chance in India he will still score well because he still has the same technique before or after IPL.

On Indian pitches. Rahane was exposed in warmups. He does not have good footwork forward and plays mainly from back foot and is a big caught behind candidate. Rohit plays across a lot like Laxman and is a bi LBW and bowled candidate when ball swings or seam.

They may only be beasts in Indian conditions but if they can score big at home for India i will be happy. Not seen enough of Rahane but i believe Rohit has the talent to succeed abroad but will need to work hard and apply himself. Not every batsman that breaks into the national team will be good abroad but if it is vital that they will be good at home. I have always championed Pujara as the future of Indian batting but i also think Mukund and Rohit have a good chance of becoming good test players.

I dont understand why everyone here is so against badrinath. To be fair to him he might no be ODI material but i strongly believe he has 4-5 years of test cricket left in him. He seems like the batsman who can grind it out like a hussey. again hussey is a great and iyts premature to compare badri with him, but i feel badri can do really well in tests. let us give him a chance guyz. when sehwag can flop so many times outside India, why cant we at least give badri 25% of the chances that sehwag got.. Obviously Pujara, Rohit, Kohli and rahane are at the higher pecking order. but i would want badri to come right down below these 4 along with Mukund. I would prefer playing a badri in tests ahead of raina or yuvraj. The need of the hour is to make test cricket attractive from a financial point. If everything goes the IPL way i am sure quality will reduce so much that barring IPL people would not care to watch any other form of cricket because all our domestic batsmen an bowlers wll become so retarded in tuning their game to suit IPL that we will become laughing stock even in ODIs. we were lucky that we got rohit, raina and virat at the same time. but honestly the rest from domestic fail to inspire confidence in ODIs .... Make Ranji a priority and IPL for only players who have played at least 3 years in Ranji... lets not kill their fundamentals by allowing easy access to IPL..

He's a super underdog like robin singh and i want him to succeed just like how robin managed to at the *** end of his career..B->B-> hard work should pay off and i dont want youngsters to get disillusioned with what happened to badri or mazumdar kinda story.. I want the next hussey or hayden story to happen in Indian Test scene and Badri is the ideal candidate.... sends a lot of positive vibes to the old schoolers...

Agree he should have been given more chances. Unfortunately, 30 is considered over the hill these days and when he was younger the FAB 4 were untouchable in the Indian team.

How do you rate Mukund and Badrinath? I'm sure you must have seen quite a lot of them.

Mukund is real quality in my view.He has good back foot and solid defense technique against swing.If nurtured properly he will develop into a good test opener even in overseas conditions.Though from what i seen little of Rahane he seems a slightly better player than Mukund.It was a real joke Vijay was preserved ahead of these two guys. Even this season against Delhi in a pitch that aided fast bowlers he looked a class apart from most batsmen playing on that wicket including Vijay and Karthick. Also i dont know whether its mentioned but he isnt just a test specialist is portrayed.he has an excellent ODI record.We usually dominate the Domestic ODI arena and he always is our best batsman.He would have been chance in England ODIs i thought rather than the likes of Parthiv or even Rahane.
