nikred Posted August 12, 2012 Posted August 12, 2012 Who the eff are Independent Olympic Athletes? People with no countries??? Pirates who live on ships sailing deep in the middle of atlantic ocean? Citizens of PK's newly created Island? Refugees?
Manny_Pacquiao Posted August 12, 2012 Posted August 12, 2012 6 medals is decent. could have been 7-8 if the boxers had gone further. whats more encouraging is the fact that a lot of indians are reaching the medal rounds. even the guys in athletics and rowing were reaching the finals, which is unprecedented. they aren't a million miles away from winning medals. many of the athletes were also quite young. india seem to have found a couple of sports where they can produce elite competitors (wrestling, boxing, shooting, badminton, etc.) and a few others where there seems to be some talent, so that bodes well for the future. double figures in rio 2016 is more or less guaranteed if the corporate money keeps coming in.
suraj Posted August 12, 2012 Posted August 12, 2012 Who the eff are Independent Olympic Athletes? People with no countries??? Pirates who live on ships sailing deep in the middle of atlantic ocean? Citizens of PK's newly created Island? Refugees? Mainly refugees- like the guy from Sudan who is a refugee but waiting for US citizenship so had to compete as independent
veer Posted August 13, 2012 Posted August 13, 2012 6 medals are great when compared to our medal tally historically... but its still shameful overal.. nothing to laugh abt at others..
veer Posted August 13, 2012 Posted August 13, 2012 wow.. didnt know israel got 0.. i thought they would atleast have 10-15 medals.
veer Posted August 13, 2012 Posted August 13, 2012 russia recovered nicely at the end... ended up on 3rd place out of nowhere.
Raghav_12 Posted August 13, 2012 Posted August 13, 2012 russia recovered nicely at the end... ended up on 3rd place out of nowhere. if you combline medals for all erstwhile USSR countries, they would still be competing for top position.
exams Posted August 13, 2012 Posted August 13, 2012 Who the eff are Independent Olympic Athletes? People with no countries??? Pirates who live on ships sailing deep in the middle of atlantic ocean? Citizens of PK's newly created Island? Refugees? :hysterical::hysterical::hysterical::hysterical:
Sidhoni Posted August 13, 2012 Posted August 13, 2012 Who the eff are Independent Olympic Athletes? People with no countries??? Pirates who live on ships sailing deep in the middle of atlantic ocean? Citizens of PK's newly created Island? Refugees? The ones whose countries do not have Olympic committees and don't send athletes. One of them was from South Sudan.
Swing_n_Speed Posted August 13, 2012 Posted August 13, 2012 Who the eff are Independent Olympic Athletes? People with no countries??? Pirates who live on ships sailing deep in the middle of atlantic ocean? Citizens of PK's newly created Island? Refugees? Refugees or countries with no representation at the Olympics. Like South Sudan who cannot be represented cos Olympics rules state that a country must be a minimum of two years to participate and I think it was only last year when they got independence? The IOC has some weird rules.
jind Posted August 13, 2012 Posted August 13, 2012 Dang, nothing is on today. Olympics withdrawal symptoms :nervous:
