India paceman Ishant Sharma keen to reproduce form of 2007-08 tour and terrorise Ricky Ponting again By Richard Earle, Jamie Pandaram The Courier-Mail December 16, 201 Pace enigma Ishant Sharma believes Australia will provide the stage and fodder for his second coming as India's Test enforcer. "I went on the tour as a raw bowler and returned a finished product," recalled Sharma. "People came to know me after that tour, they talked about my bowling and it had to be a positive experience for me," he said. "I am really excited to go back there again." Sharma came off the field twice during India's practice game against the Chairman's XI in Canberra on Thursday but the Indian camp scotched talk of a serious leg injury. "It is just a precautionary measure, I had a brief chat with him and the physio as well, and it is just a precaution as it stands now," fellow paceman Zaheer Khan said. India's bowlers failed to make a major statement as the Chairman's XI racked up 6-398. On a flat and unresponsive wicket, Tom Cooper (182 not out) and Wes Robinson (143) compiled a 226-run third-wicket stand. Young paceman Umesh Yadav was the pick of the bowlers with 3-39. "I've been mentioning back in India it is good to see him bowl 140km/h plus, which is really important, and I'm sure the wickets here are going to suit his style of bowling because they are going to provide that extra bit of bounce," Khan said. If Sharma hits his straps it will spell trouble for ageing No.4 Ponting. Axed nemesis, spinner Harbhajan Singh, has claimed Ponting 10 times, but Sharma's tally against the ex-skipper already stands at six. "I have been waiting for this tour for a long time," said Sharma, who has 128 wickets in 48 Tests. "There are a lot of expectations from me because I had done a good job on my last tour there. "I am charged up now. ishant is important for us .. i rea some where sachin was asking yadav to bowl perfect length.. he wasnt able to 203 times and sachin got mad and practiced with some other bowler well one hting im sure of is he will hit the right length in tests i hope even ishant works on it cos thats the reason he does not gets many wickets

Strike rate of 101 and average of 60 IN Australia. Strike rate of 94 and average of 58 IN England. Strike rate of 79.4 and average of 48 IN South Africa . Strike rate of 70.7 and average of 41 IN New zealand . I think Ishant is intent on terrorizing his own team .

ishant is next big thing for indian cricket..two MOS ..that too one overseas victory..last tour he did very well..the only thing is to manage him very well..don't ask him to play one day cricket

He has a very strange record. Ishant has a better record on flat wickets then in conditions suited to fast bowling (in Aus , Eng , SA or NZ) Zaheer is India's only hope.

don know probably it is his line.. in south africa he was in bad form.. new zealand he did perform once then all matches were drawn well lets hope he steps up now

Even in the West Indies series, while Ishant had the pace, his line and length was poor. I think he is bowling more with the shoulders. His left arm and shoulder is falling away a bit probably he is protecting his foot.
