rkt.india
Mishra to lead North Zone in Duleep Trophy Has to be the worst zonal side so far with no potential player for international cricket apart from maybe Awana or Patel too about whom we do not know much. Where have the seamers and spinners gone? Even batsmen? Who is the keeper? Bisht? Mayank Sidana has also done well, but no Mandeep Singh? http://www.espncricinfo.com/ci/content/player/34488.html He is one for future as well. Link to comment

Shikhar Dhawan, Mandeep, Sidana, Vikas Mishra, Harshal Patel, Awana, Rishi Dhawan, Bisht, Sangwan, ID SIngh..all these guys are quite young and some of them do have the potential to go on and play for India if they keep performing in domestic cricket. NZ have perhaps one of the youngest squads in the competition. Can't see any 35 year old in that side. Link to comment
MCcricket
Central zone squad? , looking at local DYPATIL TEAMS, even ex mumbai player R Shaikh and some other bowlers look far better then the trundlers and mediocre 115 bowlers we have in the Mumbai and other Ranji sides and lol Duleep trophy teams, what a screw up the selections are. rkt.india
Duleep Trophy Quarter Final- East Zone versus West Zone - (January 27 - January 31 ) The success and failures of Ranji Trophy will be forgotten when India's top domestic players switch from doing duty for their states to representing their Zones in the Duleep Trophy, which commences on Friday. Amidst questions being raised over the importance of the 50-year-old tournament in a cramped schedule, West Zone will take on East Zone in the quarterfinals here. West coach Sulakshaan Kulkarni believes the tournament remains important from the players' point of view. "The (national) selectors will be keeping a close eye on the tournament, especially after India's showing in Australia. Players who performs here will have a chance to make it to the national team." Going by the look of the wicket, it seems the BCCI's direction for sporting wickets has been followed. Pacer Dhawal Kulkarni will be missing from the West squad because of a shin injury. Saurashtra's medium pacer Sandeep Maniar, who picked 24 wickets in the 2011-12 Ranji Trophy, will replace him. If West make it to the semis, Ajinkya Rahane will join the squad after returning from the Oz series. East will miss batsman Manoj Tiwary, who has flown to Australia for the tri-series. They will be banking on Dheeraj Jadhav - who averaged 176 with five tons in Ranji for Assam - to give their batting stability. http://www.hindustantimes.com/Cricket/CricketNews/Selectors-keyed-in-as-East-meet-West/Article1-802601.aspx West Zone squad: Cheteshwar Pujara (Captain, Saurashtra), Ajinkya Rahane (Vice-captain, Mumbai), Kaustubh Pawar, Harshad Khadiwale (Maharashtra), Suryakumar Yadav (Mumbai), Abhisekh Nayar (Mumbai), Ankit Bawane (Maharashtra), Ambati Rayudu (Baroda), Rohit Motwani (Maharashtra), Akshay Darekar (Maharashtra), Dhawal Kulkarni (Mumbai), Ishwar Chaudhary (Gujarat), Balwinder Sandhu Jr. (Mumbai), Kamlesh Makwana (Saurashtra), Samad Fallah (Maharashtra). East Zone Squad: Dheeraj Jadhav, Abu Nachim Ahmed, Gokul Sharma (Assam); Ishank Jaggi, MS Bardhan, Shahbaz Nadeem (all Jharkhand), Natraj Behera, Biplab Samantaray, Basanta Mlohanty (all Odisha), Shreevats Goswami, Ashoke Dinda, Laxmi Ratan Shukla, Anustup Majumdar, Mohammed Sami Ahmed (all Bengal), Subhrajit Roy (Tripura). Stand-by: Rana Dutta (Tripura) and Abhilash Mallick (Odisha). Scorecard: http://www.bcci.tv/bcci/bccitv/community/domesticresult/livescorecard/45 Link to comment
rkt.india
West is 59/4 One wicket to Dinda and Basant Mohanty and 2 to Abu Nechim Ahmed...why no Mohammad Shami, but Mohanty? Link to comment
saneindian
Mohanty has been a consistent performer in EZ. Had picked up 4 wickets in the last Duleep Trophy tie and has been among wickets for Orisaa this year too. Good to see Nechim doing well. Needs to pick truckloads of wickets to make the selector sit up and take notice. Link to comment

Warna Duleep Trophy ka kya fayda. They picked Abu Nechim on potential, couldn't have picked another pacer purely on potential. Link to comment

Nechim had 14 wickets@34 playing in the plate league Mohanty had 24 wickets@28 playing in the elite league. You decide who was picked on potential and who on performance. Link to comment
