CG Posted January 24, 2012 Posted January 24, 2012 Indian bowling is not exactly a penetrative bowling attack. Umesh is raw. Ishant was supposed to back up Zak who is just back from injury. But Ishant's failure as a bowler has really hurt India. Ashwin didn't do well. But that i expected all the way. Not a single offie has done well there in the last 10 or 12 years. Swann averages 40 there. Possibly the best offie. India's traditional strength has been piling up runs and let the bowlers take their own time to pick up wickets with scoreboard pressure. I have never seen an Indian side that will run through a side consistently. They do occasionally with an inspired bowling performance. But for that to happen consistently all 4 bowlers have to be reasonably penetrative to build pressure backed up by good fielding. We are nowhere close to having such an unit. It will take long time before building such a bowling unit. Frankly i have no hope in the near future. No bowling attack will be able to defend 200 or less than 200 regularly,Every Good team has contributions from bowler and batsman,But Our batsman have let us down,If this bowling attack got 350 they would be very effective .

No bowling attack will be able to defend 200 every time. But no bowling attack will concede huge partnerships to out of form batsmen like Hussey, Punter regularly. Fact is we suck in both departments. But we are okay with bowling because we have made piece with the fact our bowling is an average unit. We are essentially a team that depends on run machines.

Ultimate_Game Posted January 24, 2012 Posted January 24, 2012 they werent defending anything today' date='so why this magnificent performance?[/quote'] Coz it's a flat track and the series is gone anyways. This is how we should have batted at Sydney after losing early wkts. Blaming the bowlers for Eng and Aus fiasco is a sick joke. Sure, our bowlers haven't exactly covered themselves in glory but bowling never was our strong suit. The biggest culprits and who should be taking lion's share of the blame is our batsmen. They looked like schoolboys in Eng and Aus and deserve all the blame they get, including Sachin "in great touch" Tendulkar. Other than Dravid in England our batting was worse than a club team's lineup.
CG Posted January 24, 2012 Posted January 24, 2012 they werent defending anything today' date='so why this magnificent performance?[/quote'] Because nature of pitches also have a role to play,If you have followed indian cricket you would have surely watched how things were on flat pitches sorry even on green pitches and how our fast bowlers would amble up and bowl at 120k after lunch,These guys run in every ball and were unlucky they did create chances what more do you want ?When you do not keeps slips how will you catch the edges.

Bowlers have to have something t play with. Low scores and collapses are fine once in a while but how on earth can you win a series when the team gets bundled out for 200 everytime?

Very strong batting unit. Very average bowling unit. Average bowling unit looked better thanks to Zaheer and odd good spells by other bowlers. When that Very strong batting unit suddenly turned into average batting unit fall was really hard. Having said that Indian bowling unit in Australia is an inexperienced attack. Two new comers (Ashwin, Umesh), One injury return bowler (Zak), One crappy bowler (Ishant). It was expected they were not going to do anything special. Australia's traditional weakness has been swing. Unfortunately we lost Praveen at the wrong time. So it was all upto Zak to give break through and also sustain it.

I'm not saying the batsmen r faultless but to say they r the only one to blame is not on

If the match was close we all know what would have happened - just like we crumbled to 280 from 214/2 at Melbourne.

Ultimate_Game Posted January 24, 2012 Posted January 24, 2012 n the match was dead because we conceded 659-4 No, the match was dead when we were bundled out for 190 in 60 overs on Day 1 on a batting pitch.

Ultimate_Game Posted January 24, 2012 Posted January 24, 2012 match could have been well on if we bowled them out for 300 Unfortunately Aussies had batsmen who knew how to score runs on a batting beauty just like they are showing us at Adelaide. Once again, you are blaming bowlers for the batting failure.
