NEW DELHI: Reposing full faith in the beleaguered Indian cricket team, BCCI chief N Srinivasan has said the side can still beat any top team in the world and needs a little bit of luck to turn it around in Australia. "Even now, this team is good enough to beat anybody. This is the best team we have," Srinivasan said. The BCCI chief said the team had every chance to come out triumphant in the Sydney Test but somehow the hosts managed to win. "We definitely felt they would do well in Australia, and I think even if you take the first Test, there were moments when I think we were on top and for some reason or the other the Aussies got away," he told NDTV in the 'Walk-the-Talk' show. Srinivasan also said the team does not deserve the scathing criticism that was coming from all quarters. "I think one cannot really run them down. So little bit of luck, rub of the green as they say, and I think results would be different. We cannot win every match, series all the time, so one has to allow for that," he said. Srinivasan however asserted that he was not defending the team for the crushing defeats it has suffered in the three Tests so far. "I am not defending the performance of the Indian team. I would wait and see." India have one Test, two Twenty20 Internationals and a tri-series, also involving Sri Lanka, to salvage the pride. The Adelaide Test will start on January 24 and the tri-series, involving Sri Lanka as the third team, will begin on February 5 with India and Australia clashing at the MCG. http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/sports/cricket/series-tournaments/india-in-australia/top-stories/After-Australia-humiliation-BCCI-says-this-Indian-team-can-beat-any-side/articleshow/11554860.cms

:cantstop: maybe we should have Srinivasan and srikanth in the team as well.... that would strengthen our batting line up further and make us truly invincible like bradman's 48 side

Don't worry' date=' he'll again deny his statement tomorrow.[/quote'] Can't deny this. They were showing clips of this interview on NDTV. I think they are going to broadcast the full interview Friday (19/01/2012) 9.30 P.M. on 'Walk the talk' programme

Is this our best team? Yes Are they performing at their peak or best? Not even close. Its complete team failure. So real problem is lack of confidence, mental issues etc. Can those be sorted?? Very hard to do on the tour though, need strong leadership to do that. Our best bowlers can't bowl 6 balls in an over on a right spot and our batter can't seem to concentrate for longer periods....

Good luck with that :giggle:

That is really really sad... You guys have to put up with some rubbish from this mob:((

Yeah coz the Sydney test was close wasn't it... From the very start, first session of day 1 when the Indian batting failed, the Sydney test was gone... India were not at any point close to getting into that test match... Where was the chance... Did they play a repeat of a past test in India rather than the one we saw early in Jan 2012... This guy could clearly not have been watching the same Sydney test that we all did...:hysterical:
