debachat Posted January 23, 2012 Posted January 23, 2012 VVS may be 2 yrs younger than Dravid or Sachin but fitness wise, he is definitely older than them. He can't even move in the field or run properly. Can't you see that? And you want to play him only on his past laurels, no matter if team is going to go down 4-0 in 2nd consecutive series. Honestly, in this case, we can take lessons from Pakistan as well, whose cricketers like Wasim Akram, Aaloo, or Mohd Yusuf took retirement at right age Fitness wise - he is no better or worse than Dravid. Except VVS can still occasionally win games but Dravid cannot! Dravid was good for saving games but probability of that happening is dwindling fast!

And it is not only my opinion, it is the opinion of most of the former players as well. I feel VVS shud definitely retire after Adelaide test if not before and Dravid shud retire after England home series. About Sehwag, he may not take retirement at this age but he definitely deserves to be dropped. Rather our great BCCI has made him captain for the last test lol

And their excuse will be- We cannot drop our legends like this, who have done so much for their country in the past. I mean, they don't care about whether team is losing or getting whitewashed. They know they are loosers so they need to support each other coz they all are loosers. The logic behind their thinking is simple- if 1 looser, that is captain of the team drops another looser (VVS) then the first looser's place will also be in danger. So they all have to support each other to stay in team for a longer period

However, why not give the younger generation a chance to play in the home soil before throwing them out in the rough seas of Aus, Eng and SA series?

You have a good salary, your job is secure even if u dont perform, u can go shopping or go-carting while on duty and you can sc**w the general public of this country and your bossess will take no action against you. Everyone gets a cut from top to bottom all at the cost of the Aam Admi without whom they wouldn't have any of these benefits. Now only thing needed is to make the retirement age as 60. quota as well :haha:

As a result of that, they will be better prepared next time they go abroad. and you never know, youngsters may bring change of fortunes with them, we might win with them. And obviously, next time we go abroad, none of these stalwarts will be there in the team. So, we need to bring in Rohit in playing 11

Dropped 2 catches, one straight fiorward, infact both were possible and gave away 4 runs while fielding well inside the boundary but it is not about one odd catch. His standards of fitness and fielding and running are way below the requirement. I seriously can't wait for this test to end and him announcing his retirement.

I won't mind if he announces his retirement after England home series. India won't play any test matches till November

And India has lost a great opportunity to play youngsters in this series and give them a feel of Australian conditions. Not only have they lost this opportunity, they themselves have failed miserably as well
Number Posted January 26, 2012 Posted January 26, 2012 Sehwag should be replaced as well. Whatever he has done after 08 is in SC. Even Raina would have done that. We need a solid opener now , not a moody happy-go lucky slogger , who can't score outside SC to save his life.
