Should definitely retire after Adelaide test if not now. 2. Rahul Dravid- Already 39, should retire after England home series late this year. 3. Sachin Tendulkar- Still looking fit at nearly 39. Just needs to make his 100th ton asap so that he can play normally. He can even go on to play next World Cup. Yes, you heard it right. I am giving you a little insight(thru a little source of mine) that Sachin had no intentions to retire before this Australia series. But, a big failure in this series might his mind. But, I have no problems with him playing till next WC given if he is scoring runs. 4. Virender Sehwag- Present age 33. Should play till next World Cup given if he is scoring runs. 5. Zaheer Khan- Present age 33 and a half. Still our backbone of fast bowlin. If he stays fit, should definitely play till next WC. Meanwhile, should retire from T20s including IPL. 6. Harbhajan Singh- Present age 31 and a half. Rarely have fitness issues. If in form, will definitely play till next WC. 7. MS Dhoni- Present age 30 and a half. Already talking about retirement from tests. Which I think is a right decision. If he is going to take retirement from tests in 2013 end, then he should retire or leave captaincy from next home test series only. So, that new captain will have enough time to settle down during home series. As far as ODI concerned, MSD is doing perfectly fine and will captain in next WC. Just don't get complacent. 8. Vinay Kumar- Present age nearly 28. Should retire as quickly as possible for the sake of his country. Just don't wait at all. Don't even wait till morning as well. Call the media right now. The BCCI is all knowing. :P These guys will still play in the IPL till their mid 40s a la Warne, and will be involved in some capacity with the team. As assistant batting coaches/commentators. Besides, I don't think Laxman or Dravid are really crowd favourites and their absence may not even affect the TRPs.

They have some kind of settlements with the companies that they will play in the team for 1 or 2 more years. And if they looses their place in the team, that have a very bad effect on their contracts. Now, take the example of VVS, everyone knows he should retire or give his place to Rohit. VVS has failed miserably. He can't even move properly on the field. Now, India is not going 2 play test in next 8-10 months. There won't be any domestic matches for him. He doesn't play in IPL. So, y is he so desperate to stay in the team. He has achieved everything in his life. He should just retire now. He is not retiring bcoz of those kind of commitments. He is not looking at team's interest, just care for his personal interest.

In fact, you can check out my other threads in which I openly talk against pathetic captaincy of MSD and Gambhir's poor opening display.

Bhajji is rarely injured so no new spinner could be tried, meanwhile he kept throwing darts for last few years and survived due to: -Dhoni support -His batting and having "heart" -India doing well so could carry him :(( Still decent ODI and T20 spinner, economical.

We really missed Bhajji's services in the present Australia tour. If he was in form, he could have surely make some difference with his game as well as his jolly behaviour

Number Posted January 20, 2012 Posted January 20, 2012 Rohit can still play t20+odis but I feel sorry for talented young batsman like Cheteshwar Pujara. In tests our standards of ground fielding and running b/w the wicket have gone down in gutter. When Ganguly and Dravid were forced out of ODI team people asked who is gonna replace them. I feel we still don't have ODI batsmen of their caliber but as a team we are doing well. If seniors don't go by themselves selectors should take initiative. No matter how much Dravid and Laxman score in Adelaide , they should not play the next test series.
