It is proven tht gambhir and sehwag cant be our opener in overseas..We need gud solid young players there..Technique of gambhir and sehwag is not apt for swing condition...With lakshman and Dravid out of the team, there is a place for sehwag to bat at no. 5 or 6 ? ? Kohli sachin sharma Sehwag dhoni So suggest a few

Tests - Available options Mukund - is worth a try. But he has to improve his frontfoot play Rahane - may not be a great idea to force him to open. Vijay - day and night difference when he moves from flat deck to helpful surfaces Karthik - Good technique. But highly inconsistent. Naman Ojha - Good numbers. But largely unknown. Parthiv - baby face can produce decent innings upfront occasionally. But not a long term option.

He is the only hope.

Rahane and mukund are my openers No need to drop sehwag i think gambhir should be dropped sehwag will be gud at no 5 or 6 in overseas

Sehwag should be dropped for some time, till he performs in domestic. Mukund and Gambhir would be my pick. Gambhir might have failed, but unlike Sehwag, he contains a far more tighter technique and also has the knack of fighting it out.

Rahane can open, has done for BP XI, Mumbai and EPT...scored a tone vs Aussies opening for BP XI Gambhir was excellent vs Steyn and Morkel in SA so I would not write him off just yet.

We will play in the SC for the next few series, Viru will turn into a monster again. Though someone does need to remind him that his big scores in Tests have come when he has been patient early in his innings instead of going slam bang from ball 1. The big worry is Gauti. Just when he looked ready to become a great batsman, he's fallen off the highs of 08-09 and become a very mediocre test batsman irrespective of the conditions.
