Nobody noticed, but i see this as a very important step in England's development in the Sub Continent, England Lions playing Bangladesh, Sri lanka in Sub Continent conditions. They are planning for the future UNLIKE india who had forgot all the "A" tours to Fast Bouncy Wickets. Shame on BCCI!!!!! Kudos ECB. I wish some sense prevails in BCCI

I just checked out the team compositions for the EPT. The Indian team was good as an A team - Shikhar Dhawan (captain), Ajinkya Rahane (vice-captain), Srikkanth Anirudh, Manish Pandey, Saurabh Tiwary, Manoj Tiwary, Ashok Maneria, C M Gautam, Ambati Rayudu, Rahul Sharma, Iqbal Abdulla, Umesh Yadav, Varun Aaron, Sreenath Aravind, R Vinay Kumar. So, my point of India sending an A team for an Australian tour is not entirely untrue. Regarding the opponents - the South African team consisted of seasoned First Class players with almost everyone having played at least 20 FC matches. 3-4 of them had even played 40+ FC matches. If you compare the overall experience in the SA squad, I think they were slightly more experienced than the Indian bunch in terms of playing First Class cricket. The Australian team had a lot of youngsters in comparison - but in no way were they a bunch of Institute kids. Almost all of them had played a few First Class matches, and a few of them have since played for Australia (like Beer and Starc; also Cutting was there). The rest were young players around the age of 21; their age and FC experience would be equal to Cummins and Pattinson's. A young team, but not devoid of talent and experience at the highest domestic level. The NZ team simply sent their A team and called it New Zealand A. I thought Nsareen was a Pommie because of his enthu about an English cricketer (future Beast?). And even then, I am an Aussie - look at my Avatar and caption :winky:

They were not kids, most of them plays for their states in their domestic cricket.

Yeah our team was an A team, but Aussies were not really...thats what I meant...the fact that Saruabh Tiwary finished with a lot of runs says alot ...youre right about the other two sides though

Last time, a full fledged Aussie A team toured India in 2009 with players like Katich, Marcus north, Siddle, Bollinger, Rhonchi, Hughes, etc. and lost and you are forgetting apart from Aussie team, which was a bit inexperienced, other teams SA and NZ were very good in terms of their FC experience and Indian players did well against them too, in fact NZ teams had so many players who have been in their international team's scheme of things.

Difference is about conditions. It is not easy for any Indian team to perform well in conditions like Australia, England, and SA, but our EPT team performed well.
