No 'experiment' isn't the right word. I'm talking of guys who have performed reasonably in conditions they are comfortable with. Also I clearly mentioned how this logic of "doing enough" is flawed. People are never going to do enough to "earn" their place when they are up against Sachin. Its the reason why you think Raina(130+ odis) and Rohit (70+ odis) haven't done ENOUGH. Thier averages are already better than some of greats from other teams.
well, if you accept that - (based on the current performance, and not history) - then why should it be a problem at all - that SRT continues playing.?

I am curious to know who are these greats who have lesser averages than Raina and Rohit.

well' date=' if you accept that - (based on the current performance, and not history) - then why should it be a problem at all - that SRT continues playing.?[/quote'] Again like I said...it would be fine if Sachin played each and every game when fit. But otherwise him letting guys play "cheap games"(which is the reason why he makes himself unavailable in the first place) so that they gain "experience" would be pointless. Lets face it when you have played as many games as Raina(130+) and Rohit(70+), you would be considered veterans in most sides. So what exactly are we going to do if one of the 2 fails in a particular condition? Are we goign to get back the 4 years the selectors invested in them believing in their potential? We know these guys can score back on home pitches, but can they do it here?

Sachin - Gambhir and Sehwag are taking it in turns to play which i dont see a problem with, as 2 cents pointed out you have to play you best side but then why is Sehwag playing, he should have been dropped for Rahane imo.. as MS said its better SRT sitting out than dropping Rohit/Raina/Kohli so all 3 openers can play.

Given the amount of cricket Indians play, rotation is the only way to keep the players healthy and sane. I do agree that players should not be given the right to pick and choose. Ideally there should be a system in place where players are forced to take enough rest and still not fear loosing their place. Either the board draws a sensible FTP or we have a rotation policy. No one can play all the games Indian team plays in a year for all the money and fame in the world.

Sachin-Gambhir should play ahead of Sehwag , in every game from now on unless we reach the finals. Sehwag's way of getting out is more moronic than any youngster.

In all seriousness Ind have to start looking at a future beyond Tendulkar. I really struggle to see why he is still playing – what has he got left to prove. You won the WC so retire at the top. The future WC team will not include him so it makes no sense to hang around like a bad smell.
