Lurker Posted February 14, 2012 Posted February 14, 2012 And I just told you that being in red is of very little consequence to this government' date=' considering the amount of wasteful spending we have seen. Taking into the account the current demographics, nothing is more important than Education in this country... Nothing. It won't take much time for this young population, that this government like to champion as an asset, to become a liability. Wait 10 years and see where the unemployment situation lies.[/quote'] That has nothing to do with anything here. Stop ranting for the sake of it. You think if BJP comes to power India's cash situation will become that of China, faculties will start popping up on their own, and we would be ready to make 10 times the IIT? Seriously if thats not a bombastic idea what is?? Nobody is claiming we dont need to do anything with regards to education, specially since a big overhaul is certainly needed. But not with the kind of ideas you are coming up with, sorry.

Seriously if thats not a bombastic idea what is?? Nobody is claiming we dont need to do anything with regards to education, specially since a big overhaul is certainly needed. But not with the kind of ideas you are coming up with, sorry. You went on a tangent regarding the budget. Realistically, quota system (like every other systemic monolith in this country) will never go away unless the the current political system is completely abolished. yes, I trust the BJP far more than congress with taxpayers' money. And I'm not comparing investing in high speed railway with education. HSR is high initial investment with very little return short term or long term with respect to china (for CCP its a d!ck measuring exercise). Quality Education on the other hand should be a right of every citizen but that isn't the case with India. (Lets face it, it is easy to divide an ignorant and uneducated public at time of an election). It'll take the kind of "bombastic idea" (actually slew of them) as I suggested to fix this country. If you think general poking and prodding is the solution, then there isn't much to discuss here. (BTW 40 billion dollars is peanuts for a country of 1.2 billion).
surajmal Posted February 14, 2012 Posted February 14, 2012 Increasing the number of IITs dilutes the quality as its already being seen. We can bring in infrastructure by a large infusion of cash' date=' but good faculty is still extremely hard to find even if you increase the pay.[/quote'] faculty doesn't have to come from within India alone. It can come from abroad. If you pay, they will come.
Khalpat Posted February 14, 2012 Posted February 14, 2012 Actually no, public does not want them. There is a reason why politician exploit this, and thats because public is as selfish as the politician. Exactly, If any bashing in our country is more popular then Sachin then it is political bashing, I have seen people blaming politicians for most of the things but really are only politicians needed to blamed for all miseries where are those guys who voted them. I will give an example ,5-6 years before I was sitting in one of my uncle's house in India and his friend a Yadav jee from Bihar came to meet him. While discussing politics Yadavjee said " Lalu is not doing anything, he has meesed up everything no development in bihar, no roads, no electricity". My Uncle replied very calmly "Yadav jee just tell me one thing did you voted Lalu for making Road, for creating jobs no you voted him just for cast sake now why are you ranting that he has not made roads, you vote him to make roads, give electricity and beleive me uske baap ko bhi vikas ka kaam kerna hoga". You get what you deserve and here you get what you have voted for.
BeautifulGame Posted February 14, 2012 Posted February 14, 2012 Anyone who thinks quota systems dont benifits the poor in India are out of touch with reality. As for quota based on economic conditions is simply not possible. Most of the non-salaried income people in India has income certificate lower than their actual income.Just look at the stats for people who who get creamy layer certificates. Its all good talking talking about quota based on economy but it simply isnt practical.
Clarke Posted February 15, 2012 Posted February 15, 2012 Anyone who thinks quota systems dont benifits the poor in India are out of touch with reality. - How effective/efficient is the quota system in delivering social justice to the needy ? - What is the price paid for promoting perpetual incompetence, coz that seems to be the idea behind allowing multiple generations use the quota to their benefit ? As for quota based on economic conditions is simply not possible. Most of the non-salaried income people in India has income certificate lower than their actual income.Just look at the stats for people who who get creamy layer certificates. Its all good talking talking about quota based on economy but it simply isnt practical. Roads are so impossible to build & maintain, lets go back to kachi sadak & bullock carts
Clarke Posted February 15, 2012 Posted February 15, 2012 While we're at it, lets have quota system in the private sector as well. With so much poverty and discrimination, it is what India needs asap. That's precisely what IBM would look forward to when they establish their next development center.
