Prakat Posted February 13, 2012 Posted February 13, 2012 Going by his recent pronouncements to the press that have been interesting, to put it mildly, it seems like Gambhir is being encouraged by certain sections of the BCCI to go for broke for a shot at the next captaincy. Kohli coming good recently may also have spurred his camp. Some of his more interesting comments... "Ÿe should have finished the game in the 48th over. We shouldnÃÕ have taken this game to 50th over. This is my personal observation" - About Dhoni's handling of the end overs. "You don't want names, you want people who can deliver. We have shown it, I think." - Questioning Sachin's place in the team. What do you think?
Needforspeed Posted February 13, 2012 Posted February 13, 2012 He was venting his true feelings in public. If he was looking for captaincy, he would have been more diplomatic.
CG Posted February 13, 2012 Posted February 13, 2012 He will get the captaincy if he gets his form back in tests.
akshayxyz Posted February 13, 2012 Posted February 13, 2012 Public has almost no role in choosing the cricket team captain. Definitely not in the shorter term.

He can be dismissed with lolly pops.

Viki_J Posted February 13, 2012 Posted February 13, 2012 Public has almost no role in choosing the cricket team captain. Definitely not in the shorter term. that is there...but Gambhir is doing well !
Needforspeed Posted February 13, 2012 Posted February 13, 2012 Have always felt that he doesn't respect Sachin as much as most others do. Vindicated by his comments today. I am sure there is a lot of hidden jealousy among many players against Sachin...but no one dared to open their mouth till now. Now that some people feel that Sachin's powers are waning and he may retire soon, they are showing their true colors.

CasualVisitor Posted February 13, 2012 Posted February 13, 2012 What makes you think that?? His statements like "do not need big names..", "this is the best eleven..." etc
Magneto Posted February 13, 2012 Posted February 13, 2012 Gambhir is peeved with Dhoni because Dhoni's team won the IPL and his did not. He is peeved with Sachin because Sachin's team won the CPL and his did not.

At home, we can win any ODIs even with our C team
Old guy Posted February 13, 2012 Posted February 13, 2012 Actually without Sachin we have not done well away from home or in major tournaments. At home' date=' we can win any ODIs even with our C team[/quote'] we havent played major tournaments away form home recently in south africa with sachin we lost one odi w/o him were to win 2 not saying we lost bcos of him but just an example with players like kohli, gambhir (atleast in odis) we are less dependent on sachin o remember the question was something like this.. u won even w/o sachin i must be special (not exact but in essence he asked this) so the reply

But the ones we won at home. We would have won even if Sehwag, Gamhir and Dhoni were not playing, thats how strong we are at home. I think the reason for that question is because we hardly win against australia when Sachin is not there. And IMO Gambhir's answer was an honest one, dont see anything against Sachin

mishra Posted February 13, 2012 Posted February 13, 2012 In the absence of Yuvi and Bhajji, Dhoni is lone ranger, But I think media politics may actually end Gambhir's career. If I was him i would have already dialed Dhoni as well as Tendulkar and explained them how i was misquoted. PS: Only Paki players and PCB staff has rights reserved communicate among themselves via media
Stuge Posted February 13, 2012 Posted February 13, 2012 I see believe Sachin Blame policy brewing up again :O
