Unfortunately on subcontinental tracks he's gonna have to learn how to reinvent himself, cos when the pitch is doing nothing and when opposition batsmen have figured you out, the going's gonna get tough. But he's a definitely the most exciting player we've had in a while. I'm definitely going to back him a few failures notwithstanding.

But, at this time it is important for him to pick some wickets and gain confidence and learn the nuances of OD cricket. As he will start feeling confident, he can start bowling with his original higher pace. We all saw in his first 2 overs he was bowling at very good pace but was getting rattled very badly. But, then when he start focussing on bowling well, he was looking much more effective.

I'm definitely going to back him a few failures notwithstanding.[/quote'] He is a talent no doubt but he will have to focus on bowling like he did in his second spell, not the non-sense, unplanned, and illiterate type bowling what he bowled in last 3 ODIs and he continued bowling that non-sense stuff in his first spell here as well. But, as soon as he started focusing on his task to get the batsmen out, he got 2 very crucial wicket otherwise Australia would have scored nearly 300 runs.

One thing he needs to learn is how to be consistent in line & length and bowl on one side of the wkt. Currently, he leaks way too many runs, and he has to learn that you need to put pressure on the batsman with tight lines & length as it helps in getting wkts.

If you look at the Aussie attack they always have a Brett Lee. Now Brett Lee is supposed to be that experienced bowler there to take control of the bowling. The mere presence of a senior bowler does have (i would think) a very calming effect on a young bowler. Now come to India, There was one game where Yadav bowled in tandem with Vinay Kumar and Irfan Patahn!! Are yo fo real? For such a young fast bowler who is more often than not used as a strike bowler you need a mentor. In the absence of that mentor the whole load of pressure falls on young UY. And no doubt he is feeling the heat. Trying out to many things. As a result bowling quite a few loose deliveries. I think the absolute worse you can do is make him bowl in tandem with VK and IP. Two games were played with that bowling attack both against SL. One tied and the other lost.And if you notice it is here where UY plays at his worse. UY will play a whole lot better if there is stability in the bowling attack. In-fact so precious is this young lad that he'll perform well even if that mentor is only PK.
Old guy Posted February 26, 2012 Posted February 26, 2012 yep he is inconsistent but he something very rare for us got 2 set batsmen out in no time how many times we have seen something like this from indian bowler in odis ? only bowler i remember is zaheer also him reducing pace ..he probably went for control.. and many times still hit 145 easily.. with his fitness i dont htink losing pace would ever be a problem he is built like a quick bowler

He was not running in like previous matches. Pitch was not slow. Look at how Brett Lee bowled. He was slower than Yadav even today, but he troubled our batsmen with pace and bounce.

And I would like to see him bowl with new ball often rather than bringing him on second change. Sure, might cost some run, but that's a small price to pay if he can pick wickets. And him being fully fit so far is another positive.

Coz any fast bowler looks much better when he start picking wickets or trouble the batsmen. Not like Shaun Tait who usually gets rattled by the batsmen.

Not like Shaun Tait who usually gets rattled by the batsmen. lol im going to sleep now so i might talk gibberish all the thingsu said planning,setting up people come with experincebut this guy right now has raw talent and ability to get wickets any time probably teams dont regularly play these type of bowlers they develop them with coaches etc but with india umesh is lucky i dont think experinced bowlers are even equal to his current level :D with the exception of zack ofc hope he develops into some thing gr8 otherwise im becoming south african from now on ;PP

We are not giving him new ball coz of our other 2 bowlers, VK and PK who just can't bowl with old ball, that too all of their overs. Even when Zaheer Khan will be in team, he is senior pro, so naturally you should give him new ball. Irfan Pathan is one bowler I can tell who can bowl with old ball despite him being not very fast.
