Ammar1 Posted February 21, 2012 Posted February 21, 2012 A final sigh of relief for Pakistani fans as PCB chairman Zaka Ashraf has approved Shahid AfridiÃÔ name to lead the side in Asia Cup. It was reported by a local TV channel that most of the senior players will be left out from the event scheduled in March, 2012. The new faces will be inducted in the side to ensure a solid team for the upcoming T20 and the 2015 ODI World Cup. The Boom-Boom made his comeback at the England series and his performance during the opening four matches is commendable, in both departments of the game. The 31-year-old criticized the selectors for choosing a week team during the ongoing ODI series against Team England. He applauded PakistanÃÔ performance during the test series to clean sweep the English side but also suggested that the selection for the ODI format of the game was not up to the standard. The Green side overcame Team England with a splendid bowling performance during the recent test series. The only discussable batting performances were, by Younis Khan, Azhar Ali and to some extent Asad Shafiq. The Asian cup is starting on March 12, 2012 in Bangladesh as per the latest scheduled announced by the organisers. The tournament will feature a total number of seven, fifty over matches including the final. All the matches will be held at the Shere Bangla National Stadium, Mirpur and will be played under lights. The proposed schedule for the coming event is as under.

Agree he is below avg batman but more than useful ODI bowler, anyways not talking about his performance. I am not in that much hurry too for removing Misbah but one another major concern I have for Misbah, hardly see him playing ODIs in 2015 so there should be someone a part of long term plan and so whenever happens, next decent choice in my opinion 'd be Hafeez... Or u tell me, who after Misbah?... Afridi? about whom we never know whether he'd be even playing cricket in next match or take retirement after 1st inng of some ODI...

khanjee Posted February 21, 2012 Posted February 21, 2012 Like you said, I think we can still have Misbah as long as he perform and its not like his fitness is the problem. he is probably one of the most fit player in our team...and like i said, our prob is not cap, our problim is picking your in laws and friends in the team..no matter who the cap is, we will struggle as long as we continue to pick the likes of fail and test guys imran farhat and malik and imran nazir and ahmad shezad and hafeez.. How about we make Azhar Ali VC for odi and maybe bring someone like Sarfaraz Ahmad and give him a proper chance ..why do we have to keep wickets with umar akmal who can't keep wickets if his life depend on it...i say we bring Sarfaraz in t20 and make him VC and see what he does..
