Besides the events that everyone since childhood has been told of, particularly the story of the holocaust, there were many astonishing acts carried about by Hitler government that few are familiar with. The following are six good achievements made by the Third Reich that radically set the stage for future advancement in many particular fields, sciences, and social norms. 1.) No smoking! Hitler was vehemently anti-smoking. The Nazi were also the first to link smoking to the contraction of cancer. 2.) The Hitler Mobile? Hitler wanted every German, whether rich or poor, to have a car. And thus he invented the Volkswagen (People's Car) 3.) Spare some change? Before coming into power in 1933, mass unemployment crippled the German economy. The global depression of that era made it so that a wheelbarrow full of money couldn't even buy a loaf of bread. When the Nazis stormed on to the scene, they put everyone back to work. Over night, the wheels of the economy were turning once more and money was flowing back into people's pockets. 4.) Its his way or the highway! Every time you hop on to the freeway to get somewhere faster than taking all the back roads, thank Hitler. Thats right, Hitler invented the highway system (Ã…utobahn in German). 5.) This little light of mine gunna let it shine! The Olympic torch relay ceremony was Hitler's idea for the 1936 Berlin Olympic games. We haven't since gotten rid of the ceremony. 6.) Save the whales! Hitler and many top Nazis were environmentalist types who cared deeply about animals and their rights. The Nazis were among the first to put in place laws protecting animals from abuse. Aside from the above examples are many countless others wherein Hitler used his extraordinary power as dictator to push both good and evil policies. Again, its important to realize the Yin yang concept as alluded to prior when attempting to make sense of such information concerning the person and achievements of Adolf Hitler.

Wouldn't go out to say that Hitler had any greater good in mind when he though of these things. The highways were so that he could move troops, tanks and supplies to the borders to fuel the reich's outward military movements. The people's car is a purely populist political move with an eye on votes. Olympic torch, is meh. etc.

Olympic torch, is meh. etc. The Autobahn was constructed mainly to drive the economy.. it has had limited military use - mainly as emergency runways for the Luftwaffe - most highways in the world are now constructed with this dual-use in mind. Tanks couldn't use the Autobahn as the tracks would damage it.

Prakat Posted February 21, 2012 Posted February 21, 2012 I seem to recall too many images and videos of tanks from that era traveling on everyday roads - maybe the tracks weren't as harmful to tarmac then? And the economy was after all being bolstered up to fund his expansionist policies and not really about the welfare of the people.
hari504504 Posted February 21, 2012 Author Posted February 21, 2012 Autobahn is far from an everyday road, is best put as the economic lifeline of Germany, the relatively huge amount of goods and people flowing through it even when it was only partially completed during the Nazi era. Hitler didn't invent it as my OP link had denoted..but he did push its development as he realized what is needed to fuel the war machine - an uber strong economy. As I found out, The Autobahn was designed and started before Hitler took over, the material used in its construction could not withstand Tank movements on the caterpillar rails. Ofcourse people don't want to accept that because it is going against the mass opinion. But the guy practically made a messy post-WWI Germany, a world beater by WWII. The guy was a genius and the British and Americans cheated to beat him.

The guy was a genius and the British and Americans cheated to beat him. Its pretty easy to do that by just killing off all the weaker/poorer sections and having absolute power. India would be rich too if you send millions of people to camps at no wages, prevent poor from reproducing, have everything for the benifit of the rich and powerful and enforce your laws by force on everyone. Hitler didn't have a royal bloodline to have thousands of followers at his command, he built his aura up from scratch.. some of what he did was wrong, but you can't deny that doing what he did was still an immense achievement..it took more than half a dozen countries' coordinated efforts and a couple of mistakes by hitler himself to take Germany down(barely) in WW-2 .

Some genius[/quote'] There's a lot of dictatorships in Africa that can and do most of what you said, but they remain poor. There are lot of rich dictatorships in middle east that have the money, but they are hardly world beaters. Its naive yo say that "oh give me all of this, I will make the country this and that". If it was easy, everyone would be doing it. I'm not a fan of Hitler. I hate him for his ideals and what he did to the weaker section of population. But one has to agree that he was not just a lunatic.

Some genius[/quote'] It was Stalin not Hitler who sent millions of poors to camps but still nothing happened.Soviet by and large remained economic failure .Hitler hated jews which were businessmen and not at all from poor or weaker section of society

And whats worse is that not a single customer ever had the vehicle delivered to him/her (even though they had already paid for it).

I firmly believe that there must have been a deal struck between Indian parliament and Westmisniter when India went to War against AXIS powers. While rest of country is involved in Non-cooperation moovement and Namak andolan, The forces of Very same India were biggest casulaity fighting voluntarily alongside its Masters. It leaves nothing to imagine but just some common sense what happened in that Indian-Brit meeting in London . They all went into History as unsung heroes. I think, I have seen a stone behind Buckingham palace as a common memorial to Indian and African soldiers. Our political leaders dont even mention them.

It's not that difficult really. After the Treaty of Versailles when the allied forces took away all of Germany's military power along with the massive restrictions the German people were going through an identity crisis compounded by poor economic conditions. Gathering these poor, angry people, and giving them an easy target (Rich Jews), making them out to be the cause of their problems and projecting their frustrations at this section of the nation is as easy as it gets as far as mobilizing political support goes. True he had charisma and skill and all the rest of it, but like they say, it's not what you have, but what you do with it that matters. And what Hitler did with all that he had going for him made him the scourge of humanity forever.
