Sachin=GOD Posted February 28, 2012 Posted February 28, 2012 He doesn't but he's no longer the best batsman n the world which this thread is all about. As the OP states SRT was the best for a long time but he's no longer numero uno. . In ODIs this was his 1st series after the WC (where he scored nearly 500 runs) and in Tests he has had a couple of average series' - thats not enough to change my opinion.

Maybe not yours but most people's, especially when those couple of average series were ones against Eng and Aus and the team went 0-8. That's 16 innings we are talking about and is not a small smaple size.
Sid Posted February 28, 2012 Posted February 28, 2012 Oh some people still believe Sach is the best batsman in the world ,bhagwaan bachaye :hysterical::hysterical::hysterical::hysterical:

Remember at start of Eng and Aus tour, only Sachin looked most assured at crease. Yes he didn't go onto score more but that is due to media getting to him about his 100th 100. Tendu is a little mentally weak and also due to carrying so much pressure. But he is best batsmen still.

dragonfly Posted February 28, 2012 Author Posted February 28, 2012 I don't remember starting this thread. WTF.
Ultimate_Game Posted February 28, 2012 Posted February 28, 2012 I don't remember starting this thread. WTF. I did it but somehow my OP shows up down the thread. There was timing issues on the forum a few days back and I guess the posts order got jumbbled up and yours showed up at the top.
Tendulkar_Bhai Posted February 29, 2012 Posted February 29, 2012 Pray tell me how he's the best batsman when he hasn't delivered in a year? He's not even better than Kohli currently! Kohli went through the whole WC and Aus test series (bar the 100 in a losing cause) out of form, Sachin has looked good in alot of innings just hasnt been able to go onto scoring big, even in the last ODI v Aus he was looking in good touch being obstructed by Lee. Its quite easy to confuse form and age as reasons for low scores, everyone has dry spells even YOUNG players, his age doesnt mean he cant give another good 2 yrs.

That means SRT plays at home for 2 years, retires and we are stuck with an unsettled team and younger batsman just before the next away tour and I don't want to see the repeat of 0-8 ever. Back to the topic, do you seriously believe SRT is the best batsman in the world currently? Better than AB De Villiers, Amla, Cook etc., which is what the thread is about.
CricLind Posted November 11, 2012 Posted November 11, 2012 Amla and Kallis, in that order. Amla is far better than Kallis in ODIs and they are roughly the same in Tests. Also ABdV, though his Test performances have taken a dip. As for the whole SRT debate, he seems to be in competition again with Ponting as to who is currently in poorer form.
jairamesh Posted November 11, 2012 Posted November 11, 2012 Sticking with ICC judging period, 1st Aug '12 to 31 July '13: Amla has raced off the blocks in both forms of the game.
